This is a visual guide for fixing an infected MBR (Master Boot Record) on WindowsVista and Windows7.

• You will need your original WindowsVista/7 install DVD.  If you do not have one you will need to contact the seller of your computer to obtain one.

Step 1

Boot the DVD and click Next.

Step 2

Click on “Repair Your Computer”

Step 3

Select the Windows version you have installed and click Next.

Step 4

Click on the “Command Prompt” option.

Step 5

Enter the command “bootrec /fixmbr” without quotes. Then close the window.

Step 6

Click on the “Restart” button.

That’s it!  If you followed all these steps, your hard disk has been repaired.
