Spotify Features

Spotify is a digital music streaming service. It is an inspired piece of genius that gives you access to almost any song you can dream of, even obscure ones. Bolstering this is access to both podcasts and videos. One of Spotify’s most alluring characteristics is that you can access it immediately, and for free. All you need is an email address or a Facebook account.

With no need for upfront payment, using the Spotify web player or Spotify download allows you to test the suitability of the service for yourself, without even entering your credit card details. There is, however, a difference between the free version of Spotify and the paid-for Premium version. At the most basic level, like so many software applications, the free version is Ad supported while the Premium version is not.

If you decide to commit to Spotify, then there are a variety of reasonably-priced, paid-for options available for both individual use and family memberships.

Feature Highlights

The Premium subscriptions allow you access to other more attractive features. On the Premium subscription, you can use the Download option, which allows you to play music offline, and almost anywhere, from your car to the shower, without a WIFI connection.

There are no adverts to interrupt the music, and even the newest releases are readily available. The quality of sound overall is also improved. One of our favorite features on Spotify is the Follow Friends option, which allows you to follow your friends and see what they are listening to and vice versa.

Never fear, Private Listening is available too if you don’t feel like sharing your musical mood. In a similar vein, it is possible to make collaborative playlists with your friends, where each of you can add, remove, or change the order of the tracks.

Additionally, your Spotify account can be linked to your Facebook, integrating your music and your social media, allowing you to find friends more easily and share music to your profile. Spotify and the podcast industry are closely linked, so you will be able to find your favorite podcast and even some that are Spotify exclusives.

This service is available to both Free and Premium members, though the download option is available only to Premium members.

Finally, Spotify comes to the rescue when your playlist seems a bit stale. The service offers radio stations that are tailored to your listening preferences. You can choose a specific artist or song to begin with and go from there.

These radio stations also update frequently, which is a great way of introducing yourself to new music. In the pursuit of keeping you up to date and aware, Spotify allows you to follow your preferred artists so that you are notified as soon as new music is available from them, whether it is a single song or an entire album. All of this is supported by the Discover Weekly feature. This is a playlist that is released each week, with more than 20 new songs for you to listen to based on your current listening choices.
