Auslogics Anti-Malware is a malware scanner and removal tool for Windows, designed to run alongside an existing antivirus. It checks files and system areas for threats, including running processes, startup entries and tracking cookies. Its controls let you decide both how much of the computer to examine and how aggressively to assess suspicious items.
Scan scope
The three scan modes cover different targets. Quick scan examines common locations where malware may be active, without scanning stored files and folders. Deep scan extends the examination across the system, while Custom scan lets you select particular files and folders. A custom scan can therefore focus on a downloaded folder without repeating a full examination of the computer.
Auslogics Anti-Malware also lets you set the categories included in a scan. These include running processes, internet cookies, the Windows registry, autorun entries, Task Scheduler and the file system. Examining these areas covers more than files sitting on a drive: scheduled tasks and autorun entries can reveal programs configured to launch automatically, while the memory check looks for malicious programs already running.
File-type controls provide another way to narrow the examination. You can include or exclude categories such as applications, documents, archives and disk images. File Explorer integration also provides access to scanning selected files and folders from Windows.
Detection settings
Auslogics Anti-Malware uses a malware signature database and can check for database updates automatically or on request. Its heuristic analysis examines characteristics and behavior of scanned items to identify suspicious material that may not yet match a known signature.
The heuristic level is adjustable. A higher level increases sensitivity to unfamiliar threats but can also flag harmless items. Lower settings reduce that sensitivity, and disabling heuristics confines detection to threats recognized by the database.
Reviewing detections, quarantine and exclusions
After a scan, the program lists detected issues and lets you inspect individual items before taking action. You can deselect an item or ignore it.
Quarantine keeps suspicious files available for later review instead of deleting them outright. From the Quarantine tab, you can delete stored items or restore a file that was incorrectly identified. Files and folders placed on the ignore list are excluded from future scans and cleanups.
Scheduled scans and trial limits
The full version of Auslogics Anti-Malware can run automatic scans and cleanups in the background at specified times. The application can remain in the system tray for scheduled work.
The free trial includes detection, details of identified threats and one cleanup. Further cleanups and scan scheduling require the paid full version. Quick, Deep and Custom scanning, database updates and quarantine are available in the trial.
