Candy Crush Saga is a free-to-play match-three game. Players face a board filled with different colored candies. The main objective of the game is to swap adjacent candies to line up three color-matched candies to form a column of candies of the same color. Once a color match is made, the candies of that color match are removed from the board. Once the matching candies are removed, the candies above the matching candies fall into the empty spaces. When the empty spaces are filled, new candies appear at the top of the board.

New candies that appear at the top of the board can lead to a new set of matching candies. These new sets of candies are automatically cleared for the player. Players can earn points for matching candies and increasingly more points for chain reactions. When players match four or more candies, a special candy is produced that can clear a row, column, or other area of the board if matched.

The game consists of many levels. The levels must be completed one at a time, with each new level presenting a different challenge to the user. Challenges include, for example, requiring the player to achieve a minimum score in a certain number of moves, or clearing candies in a certain number of moves to bring specific and special ingredients to the bottom of the board. The starting levels of this game are very easy to play.

As the player progresses through the various levels, the game becomes progressively more challenging for the player. There are various configurations on the board, which may include special squares that have their own unique rules. These squares may be covered in jelly, which must be removed by playing on that square. Players receive one to three stars when they reach the goal of the level. These stars are dependent on the score achieved.

After successfully completing each level, players can move on to the next level. If the player does not succeed, they lose a life and must try again. Completed levels can be played again. If a player runs out of lives, there is a waiting period in the real world to start the game again. During this time, the player’s lives are regenerated. Each player receives five lives.

The game world is known as the Candy Kingdom. The inhabitants of the kingdom are plagued by many problems. These problems are solved by the main character, Tiffi, which is short for Toffette. In order for Toffi to solve these problems, players must solve specific problems throughout the game. The solutions to these problems help Tiffi solve his problems. In Candy Crush Jelly Saga, there are two main characters that the players compete against, namely the Jelly Queen and Cupcake Carl.
