Wise Game Booster is a free Windows program from WiseCleaner that prepares a PC for a gaming session. Instead of changing the game itself, it works on what runs around it: Windows settings, background programs and system services that take memory and processor time. It runs on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 in 32-bit and 64-bit editions, and the interface is available in 36 languages.
Game list and launching
When Wise Game Booster starts, it searches the local drives for installed games and places the ones it finds in the My Games list. If the search misses a title, users can add it with the plus button by browsing to its executable. Games in the list start with a double-click or with Run Game in the right-click menu. The list therefore doubles as a launcher that keeps games separate from desktop shortcuts. Each entry also shows information about the game.
On first launch the program also checks the PC’s current state to see whether the games have a suitable environment to run in.
What Optimize All changes
The Optimize All button in the lower-right corner applies everything in one pass. Wise Game Booster works through three areas in turn: it changes system settings, ends the processes that hold the most memory, and stops services it does not consider necessary for gaming. Each of these areas also has its own tab, where users can review individual changes or make them one at a time.
System Optimizer
The System Optimizer tab collects Windows settings the program can adjust for a game mode. The tab groups them by effect: startup and shutdown speed, general running speed, network access speed, SSD handling and system stability. Users can apply all items together. The tab can also return the optimized items to their earlier values when users no longer want the changes.
Process Optimizer
The Process Optimizer lists running programs. A triangle control beside each entry ends that process and releases the memory it held. This is the manual path for users who want to decide which background program closes, rather than leaving the choice to Optimize All. The program also offers suggestions about which ones to end.
Stopping services and restoring them
Windows runs many services that have nothing to do with a game. The Service Optimizer detects the ones Wise Game Booster regards as slowing the computer down. Users can stop them all with one click, or tick individual services and leave the rest running. Some services matter for the way a particular PC works, so stopping the wrong one can affect the computer’s performance or the way it runs.
For that reason the program records every service it stops. The Restore option in the top-right corner of the window lists them. Users can start any single service again from there, or Resume All Services brings the whole set back after the game is closed. Restarting the computer also starts the stopped services again.
