Kaspersky Premium
Description
Kaspersky Premium is at the very top of Kaspersky Lab’s consumer product line and includes what was previously available in Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Kaspersky Internet Security, plus additional features that focus on identity, privacy, and device management issues that have become increasingly important in recent times as personal data has become a target: fully integrated VPN without a separate subscription, identity theft monitoring, password manager, data breach alerts, and premium technical support. For users who prefer to have a single subscription that includes security for multiple devices without having to manage multiple separate products for each function, Premium bundles those tools into a single plan.
Kaspersky Lab has been under scrutiny from a number of governments since 2022, when the company’s Russian origins attracted regulatory attention in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The US Federal Communications Commission included Kaspersky in its Covered List in 2022 and the US Commerce Department prohibited new US sales in September 2024. Kaspersky Premium is still available to users in most other international markets and receives updates and support.
Malware and Threat Protection
The core protection layer is a combination of real-time file scanning, behavior monitoring and heuristic detection. The detection engine monitors file system activity, network connections, as well as application behavior in parallel, flagging activity matching known malware signatures or suspicious behavioral patterns associated with previously unseen threats. Independent testing organizations AV-TEST and AV-Comparatives regularly rank Kaspersky in top performance levels for detection rate and low false positive rate over the course of their evaluations.
Unlimited VPN
Kaspersky Premium includes unlimited access to VPN bandwidth via Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection, eliminating the 300 MB daily limit that is placed on lower tier Kaspersky. The VPN encrypts internet traffic and sends it through servers in more than 100 locations, concealing the IP address of the device. Automatic VPN activation is triggered when an unsecured Wi-Fi network is detected and a VPN is automatically activated when the device connects to a network that is not protected by WPA2 or stronger encryption.
Password Manager
Kaspersky Password Manager keeps passwords, payment card information, documents, and photos in an encrypted password vault that is synchronized between all devices on the subscription. The browser extension automatically fills in login credentials on known sites, and creates strong passwords when creating new accounts. The password health check identifies duplicate, weak or compromised passwords that exist in known data breach lists.
Identity Theft Monitoring
Identity monitoring monitors for the user’s personal information — email addresses, phone numbers, passport numbers, and financial account information — appearing in data breach databases and dark web sources. Alerts include notification that monitored information is present in a newly discovered breach, which category of information was exposed, and suggested steps to take to secure the affected account.
Safe Money
Safe Money opens banking and payment websites in a protected browser environment isolated from the main operating system session. The protected session prevents keyloggers, screen capture tools and session hijacking software from intercepting financial data during transactions. Kaspersky checks the certificate of the target site and compares it to its database of financial sites before opening the protected session.
Privacy Protection
Webcam protection prevents applications from accessing the camera without permission, and provides a warning if any application attempts to activate the camera. Microphone protection works the same for audio input. A privacy cleaner is a program that clears the browser data, Windows activity logs, and temporary files that may be used to reveal the information about browsing behavior or application use.
Parental Controls
The Safe Kids component allows for screen time management by setting daily limits for each device, content filtering by category, monitoring social network activity for supported platforms, and GPS location tracking for Android and iOS devices. Parents control settings and access activity reports via a web-based dashboard that is accessible separately from the main application.
Premium Technical Support
Kaspersky Premium subscribers receive priority technical support with faster response times and the option of remote assistance, where Kaspersky support technicians connect to the device to resolve issues directly.
Multi-Device Coverage
A single Kaspersky Premium subscription covers multiple devices — Windows PCs, Macs, Android smartphones and tablets and iPhones and iPads — under one plan. Device count tiers differ by region and plan option.
