Overview

Wondershare MobileTrans is a phone-migration program for moving selected personal data between mobile devices or keeping a local copy on a computer. It works with connected iPhone and Android devices and separates ordinary phone content from messaging-app transfers. A typical move starts with two USB connections, a source phone, a destination phone, and a list of data categories. Wondershare MobileTrans copies the selected material; it does not turn an Android app into an iPhone app or guarantee that every data type has an equivalent on the other system.

Set the direction

The Phone to Phone screen shows both connected devices and labels one as the source. A Flip control reverses that direction before the copy starts. Check the device names and storage contents rather than assuming the phone on the left is the old one. Sending in the wrong direction can place older contacts or media on the device that was meant to receive the newer set.

The transfer list changes with the two operating systems. Photos and contacts have direct equivalents in many pairings, while call records, app data, home-screen layouts, and some message types face platform restrictions. Wondershare MobileTrans shows the categories it can read for the current pair. An absent checkbox is a compatibility limit, not evidence that the source phone contains no such data.

Keep both connected

Both phones must remain awake, trusted, and connected during a computer-assisted transfer. An iPhone may ask whether to trust the computer. An Android phone may need the USB connection mode or debugging permission requested by the guide. Replacing a cable, locking a device, or letting a laptop sleep can interrupt a long copy.

Large video libraries take longer than contact lists, and the progress indicator does not make a failing cable reliable. Charge both phones first and use direct USB ports where possible. Do not disconnect either phone until Wondershare MobileTrans reports completion, then inspect several contacts, photos, and conversations on the destination before wiping the old device.

Clear before copy

The transfer screen has an optional Clear data before copy setting. Selecting it erases existing data on the destination before the new material arrives. This can prevent duplicate records during a planned clean migration, but it also changes the operation from additive copying into replacement. Leave it off unless a separate backup already protects the destination’s current content.

Duplicate contacts can still appear when cloud synchronization restores another copy after the cable transfer. Wondershare MobileTrans has contact-management functions, but the lasting fix may require checking which Google, Apple, or Exchange account owns each contact set.

Local backup records

The Backup and Restore area writes selected phone data to the computer without requiring cloud storage. A later restore can choose data categories from a MobileTrans backup, and the program can inspect certain iTunes backups for transfer to another phone. On Windows, the backup location is hidden by default and the files use a BAK extension. Copying that file to another disk gives the migration a second recovery path.

A backup record is not useful until Wondershare MobileTrans can open it and show the expected categories. Verify the backup before resetting the phone. Keep its folder structure together, because moving one internal file out of the record can prevent the program from finding related data.

Messages need their path

WhatsApp and other supported chat services use separate workflows because conversations contain databases, attachments, and account-specific protection. A normal photo-and-contact transfer does not prove that chat history moved. Choose the named messaging workflow, follow its device prompts, and inspect the destination app after completion. Service changes can also alter what one cross-platform path can carry, so the current guide matters more than an older migration recipe.
