Abelssoft MalwareTerminator is a Windows utility for finding and removing unwanted browser toolbars and the software associated with them. It is intended for cleaning up additions that may arrive alongside another installed program. MalwareTerminator identifies affected browsers, lets the user choose detected items for removal, and includes a separate tool for disabling startup programs and services.
Scanning and removing browser toolbars
MalwareTerminator analyzes the Windows system when it starts, with a Rescan control on the dashboard for running another check. Its results pair each detected toolbar with a short description and the browsers in which it is installed, linking the named item to its browser locations. Selection checkboxes let the user mark unwanted entries in that list, and Remove selected applies removal to those marked detections while leaving the choice of targets to the user.
Some toolbars install supporting programs that interfere with their uninstallation. MalwareTerminator targets those protective components together with the selected toolbar, addressing the software that obstructs its removal. The dashboard also displays a removed-item count alongside scan status.
MalwareTerminator receives free detection-definition updates to recognize additional unwanted software. These maintain its detection information, separately from updates to the application itself. The trial limits how much the user can remove and omits automatic checking:
| Function | Trial | Purchased full edition |
|---|---|---|
| Removal allowance | Two malware items | No item-count limit |
| Automatic Windows-start checks | Not included | Included |
Windows startup controls
In the full edition, MalwareTerminator checks the computer on each Windows start and presents detected items in a dashboard. It warns the user about newly detected malware, bringing those findings to their attention for review. Removal uses the results and selection workflow rather than treating the startup check itself as a removal command.
The separate Autostart view lists programs and services configured to run when Windows boots. Entry names and executable paths identify the startup items, and checkboxes let the user select which entries to disable. This changes whether those programs or services start automatically; it does not uninstall the corresponding applications.
