Avira Mobile Security is a privacy and security app for iPhone and iPad. It combines an encrypted internet connection with website blocking and email breach monitoring, alongside tools for controlling Siri data sharing, viewing device usage and clearing duplicate photos.
Internet connections and Siri privacy
VPN connections
The VPN routes internet traffic through an encrypted connection, including when the device uses a public Wi-Fi hotspot. It conceals the IP address and location associated with the internet connection. A single button connects the VPN, and Auto-secure detects untrusted Wi-Fi networks.
Free Mobile Security and Mobile Security Pro each include 100 MB of VPN traffic per day. Prime Mobile removes that daily data cap. The VPN service cannot be used inside India, although it remains available when traveling outside the country.
Siri data sharing
Privacy Manager uses an iOS profile to prevent Siri data from being sent.
Website blocking and email exposure in Avira Mobile Security for iOS
Web Protection in Safari
Web Protection checks the sites reached through Safari and blocks addresses classified as phishing, malware, spam or fraud. Blocking access interrupts contact with a fraudulent banking or shopping page before the user enters account or payment information.
Identity Protection checks
Identity Protection checks whether email addresses appear in leaked data. Avira Mobile Security can check the user’s addresses and those of contacts, with a schedule set to daily, weekly or monthly.
The result is an exposure alert for an address found in a breach. This identifies an account detail that has circulated outside its intended service, so the user can review the associated account and change its password. Web Protection and Identity Protection are included in the paid plans.
Device usage and photo cleanup
Device Analyzer displays the iPhone’s storage and memory usage. The iOS Updater checks whether an operating-system update is available.
Photo Cleaner finds duplicate and similar images in the photo collection. Deleting unwanted copies recovers the storage they occupy.
