McAfee Mobile Security checks web destinations and message content on a phone. Separate identity functions watch details that the user submits. Its Android and iOS builds do not run the same set of checks. Android has antivirus scanning for apps and files, while iOS has a System Scan that checks whether the device has current security updates. McAfee Mobile Security therefore does not turn an iPhone into a conventional desktop-style antivirus scanner.
Safe Browsing receives a link or site destination. Scam Detector receives message content. Identity Monitoring receives an email address or phone number, while the cleanup functions work with account associations and broker records. These objects lead to different results and different user decisions.
Safe Browsing checks a destination before it opens
Safe Browsing watches a web destination reached from the device and warns when the link or site appears risky. The warning concerns that destination.
Scam Detector handles another input. It examines suspicious text messages and risky email or phishing content. On Android, McAfee Mobile Security also lists deepfake video detection. McAfee Mobile Security does not list that video function as a cross-platform capability, so an iPhone user cannot assume that every Scam Detector action shown for Android also exists on iOS.
Identity Monitoring needs the details it should watch
Identity Monitoring watches email addresses and phone numbers that the user submits. When McAfee Mobile Security finds breach exposure associated with one of those details, McAfee Mobile Security sends an alert. The monitoring scope follows the submitted details; it does not discover every identity record that the user has never added.
An exposure alert records that information appeared in breach data. It does not close the affected account or change its password.
Account Cleanup and Personal Data Cleanup search different records
Online Account Cleanup identifies online accounts associated with the user’s email address. The result lets the user decide which accounts to close. McAfee Mobile Security finds the association; it does not decide automatically that an old account should disappear.
Personal Data Cleanup concerns data-broker and people-search sites. Its purpose is to find exposed personal information and start removal from those sites. This differs from closing a login at an online service.
The platform decides which device check exists
On Android, antivirus scanning examines material on the device. Deepfake detection also belongs to the documented Android set. On iOS, System Scan checks the phone’s security-update state instead of performing the same antivirus scan.
This platform split affects how a result should be read. A clean iOS System Scan means the update-oriented check passed; it does not mean an Android antivirus engine scanned the iPhone. Likewise, Safe Browsing and Scam Detector concern risky destinations or messages rather than the operating-system update state.
