Software Description

OpenIV is a Windows game file editing modding tool. It is compatible with Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Ultimate, Max Payne 3, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Users access archives, unpack content and overwrite game assets without risk. A file manager is built-in allowing you to browse game folders. The software displays textures, sounds, and 3D models as they are.

Archive Support

OpenIV works with game archives such as RPF, IMG, and OAC. Users can extract or edit without corrupting files. The tool decodes encrypted files that are applied in Rockstar games. It is possible to insert new models, textures or sounds in the game folders. Every edit is reflected immediately in the file list. Inbuilt previews are useful in checking files before overwriting anything.

OpenFormats Feature

OpenIV supports custom model and texture imports with OpenFormats. Users transform files such as .obj or .dds into game-compatible files. It is possible to export game content to edit in other programs. Re-importing updates the changed assets after changes. This system does not involve editing of original files. OpenFormats maintains changes in order and reversible.

ASI Loader and Plugins

The tool has an ASI Loader to support custom plug-ins. This loader will allow you to play community scripts and mods in the game. It can be turned on or off within the OpenIV settings. Support of mods folder provides an independent organization of custom content. This aspect does not allow game updates to erase user mods. Script support is game and version of the plugin dependent.

Constraints and Demands

OpenIV is only compatible with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11. It is not compatible with Linux or macOS. Installation and updates need an internet connection. Modification of game files that are encrypted can violate game terms of use. It is important to back up game folders before editing. Rockstar Games at one time sent takedown notices, but subsequently permitted some modding.
