Quick Heal Antivirus is paid Windows security software for detecting malware, checking files and removable drives, and controlling threats entering through browsers, email and network connections. Its current desktop edition, Quick Heal AntiVirus Pro, combines continuous virus monitoring with scans that you can direct at particular parts of the computer. It also includes file backup and recovery alongside ransomware protection.
Quick Heal’s scan types and schedules
Quick Heal separates a routine check from a wider examination of the computer. Quick Scan checks predefined locations that are vulnerable to infection. Full Device Scan covers boot records, drives, folders and files, while excluding mapped network drives. A custom scan lets you build a list of drives or folders and choose whether to include their subfolders.
The advanced settings control what the scanner opens and examines. You can restrict scanning to executable files or include all files, add packed files, and inspect archives such as ZIP and RAR. Archive settings let you choose file types and how deeply to follow nested content. Increasing that depth or scanning every file can lengthen the scan.
Schedules can target selected folders daily or weekly, at a chosen time or at the first boot of the day. Quick Heal Antivirus also has a separate memory scan.
Real-time protection, quarantine and Boot Time Scan
Virus Protection continuously monitors files arriving through downloads, transfers, attachments and program execution. It avoids rescanning files that have not changed since their previous check. Detection alerts can identify a threat, and the backup option retains a copy of a file before the program takes action on it.
Quarantine holds suspect files separately and gives you controls to restore or remove them, submit them for analysis, or delete retained items after a specified period. Scan results show counts of examined, repaired, quarantined and deleted files.
Quick Heal’s AntiMalware scan examines files, folders and registry entries for threats including spyware, adware and rogue security programs. Its results let you review detected items before cleaning them, with an option to create a Windows System Restore point beforehand. For infections that remain active while Windows is running, Boot Time Scan performs its check at the next startup, using either a targeted or full-device scan.
Ransomware protection with file backup
Ransomware Protection detects attacks that attempt to lock access to the computer or its data. Quick Heal Antivirus pairs this protection with a backup facility that retains copies of selected file types. The default selection includes common documents and Tally data; advanced controls allow additional file extensions and exclusions.
The backup screen shows the location, schedule and most recent backup information. You can move the backup to another location or keep an additional copy in a supported cloud storage folder, including Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or JioAICloud. The corresponding cloud drive must already be available on the computer. Restoration can use the current backup location or a backup selected from an external source.
USB scanning
External Drive Protection can scan a USB drive when it is connected. Its Quick Scan checks files at the root of the drive and skips files inside folders. Full Scan examines all files on the drive.
Autorun Protection addresses a different route of infection: malicious code that tries to launch automatically when removable media is attached. It operates alongside the drive scan.
Browser sandbox
Browsing Protection blocks suspicious or harmful websites. Browser Sandbox adds controls over what a browser and applications running inside its sandbox can access on the computer. You can designate confidential folders that they cannot read, protected folders they can read but cannot modify, and a permitted folder for downloads.
Quick Heal AntiVirus Pro can display a border around a sandboxed browser window. The sandbox supports Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Internet Explorer.
Email attachments
Email Protection checks messages for attached malware and can report the virus name, sender, subject, attachment and action taken. A backup setting retains a copy before action is applied to an infected message.
Attachment controls also work by file type. You can block attachments with multiple extensions, maintain a list of blocked extensions, or block all attachments.
Firewall rules
The firewall filters incoming and outgoing connections. Application rules allow or deny access for selected programs, while network profiles apply different policies to home, work, public or restricted connections. More detailed traffic rules can match protocols, local and remote IP addresses, and port ranges.
Quick Heal Antivirus can also warn when a Wi-Fi connection is unsecured. Its intrusion detection and prevention control covers attempted network intrusions. These network functions are included in AntiVirus Pro; Safe Banking and parental controls belong to the broader Internet Security and Total Security editions.
Performance Monitor and Track Cleaner
Performance Monitor displays boot time, average CPU use, the busiest running processes and system temperature when available. It also shows a trend across recent boots and provides access to Windows Task Manager. Track Cleaner removes recently used program traces for the applications you select.
Security assistant
The built-in SIA assistant answers questions about security alerts, updates and settings through a chat interface and requires an active internet connection.
Remote management
For licensed customers in India, metaProtect adds remote device monitoring, reports and subscription management through a browser portal.
