Ridmik Keyboard provides Bangla input on Android, iPhone, iPad, and macOS. Its mobile apps combine several writing layouts with suggestions, editing controls, and visual customization. They offer free downloads with optional purchases. The separate Mac input method is free and open source.
Bangla writing methods
Avro phonetic input converts Roman-letter spellings into Bangla characters as users type. Jatiyo (National) and Probhat provide alternative key arrangements for entering Bangla directly. The mobile keyboard also handles English text.
Android also restores the older Unijoy key arrangement through an additional National layout. Arabic and Chakma come through language add-ons. Users can also choose emoji from the keyboard.
Suggestions and speech
Ridmik proposes the next word and includes emoji among its suggestions. Android suggestions can draw on learned words and the system’s user dictionary. Contact access adds names to suggestions, and a setting lets users disable that source.
On Android, the microphone control starts continuous voice input and turns speech into text in the current field. Voice input needs microphone permission and an internet connection. Users can continue editing the resulting text with the keyboard.
Clipboard and cursor controls
The Android clipboard presents recent snippets and a separate Pinned section for text that users keep available. Selecting an entry reuses it while composing. An editing panel provides directional arrows and a Select control alongside Cut, Copy, and Paste.
Holding and dragging the spacebar moves the cursor through existing text. The iOS keyboard also supports this gesture. Its toolbar provides pinned text for commonly used phrases, while text-replacement strings appear among typing suggestions.
Keypad appearance
Users apply a preset theme or create their own with the theme builder. On iOS, the store offers additional themes through in-app purchases.
Android separates keyboard-height controls for portrait and landscape use. Its optional number row offers large or small keys, and a dedicated number pad provides another numeric layout.
On iOS, settings control keyboard height, the layouts that appear, long-press delay, and haptic feedback. A one-hand mode changes the keyboard layout for single-handed input. The keyboard extension reads settings from its companion app only when users grant Full Access.
Native Mac input
The macOS package works as a system input method. Users select a Ridmik layout from the menu-bar input selector and type Bangla into application text fields.
Alongside Avro, Jatiyo, and Probhat, the Mac program offers Easy phonetic input, which converts spelling through lowercase letters. Jatiyo’s old-style-kars option accepts vowel marks before consonants and rearranges them into the combined Bangla form. The input-method menu switches this option on or off.
