Sleipnir is a web browser built around handling many open pages without reducing every tab to an unreadable strip. It uses grouped tabs, large page thumbnails, touch gestures, and bookmark synchronization to make a long browsing session easier to navigate. Sleipnir still opens ordinary websites and can import existing browser data, but its main difference appears after dozens of links have accumulated.
Tabs become groups
Dragging related tabs together creates a group. Links opened from one page can also join a related group automatically, so a research trail does not have to occupy one flat row. The active tab remains visible while the tab bar scrolls, and TiledTab changes the view to large thumbnails with stacked groups. A group can then close as one unit.
This behavior needs attention at first. Automatic grouping can place a newly opened page somewhere other than the position expected by someone accustomed to a conventional tab bar. Closing a group also has a larger consequence than closing one page. Sleipnir can protect an important tab with a double-click, which is useful before clearing a busy group or rearranging the bar.
Gestures replace buttons
Sleipnir treats pointer movement as a navigation method. A long press opens a link in a new tab, a horizontal flick changes tabs, and an L-shaped movement closes the current tab. On a desktop, mouse gestures start while the right mouse button remains pressed. Other motions go back, move forward, reload a page, or reopen a recently closed tab.
The gestures reduce trips to small controls once they become familiar. They also create a learning cost. An imprecise movement can invoke the wrong command, and a user who relies on the normal right-click menu must learn when Sleipnir interprets movement as a gesture. Tab protection limits accidental closure, but it does not remove the need to recognize each motion.
Windows and Mac differ
The Windows edition uses the Blink rendering engine and accepts Chrome extensions. That makes many familiar password managers, blockers, and development add-ons available inside Sleipnir. The macOS edition does not support browser extensions, so an extension-dependent workflow cannot move between the two desktop systems unchanged.
The Mac App Store build has another distinction: store restrictions remove some functions that exist in the separately distributed Mac build. The two downloads may therefore carry the same product name while exposing different behavior. Checking the distribution channel matters before diagnosing a missing command.
Moving existing data
Sleipnir can import bookmarks and browsing history from major browsers. Its own bookmark system adds badges and synchronizes across Sleipnir installations on desktop and mobile devices. This is browser data synchronization, not a copy of every open session or every extension setting.
Installing the current desktop generation does not remove an older Sleipnir installation. That preserves a fallback during migration, but it can leave two separate applications, profiles, or shortcuts on the computer. The user must confirm which installation receives imported bookmarks and which one opens web links before removing the older copy. A clean upgrade therefore takes more than running the new installer.
