Overview

TOWeb is a desktop website builder for Windows and Mac with visual editing, a blog, an online store, and bookings. Projects remain local folders for offline editing and preview. Standard supports free creation and publishing; paid editions extend publishing and business functions.

From a project to a page

A project starts with a business type or blank site, style, and language. TOWeb creates sample pages for a business type. Importing existing projects or backups makes separate copies, with a report identifying content that needs rebuilding.

Pages contain sections with text and functional blocks. Authors edit directly, insert galleries, tables, videos, or maps, and drag blocks into order. Reusable sections share content and appearance across pages; edits update every occurrence.

Styles over the same content

Switching styles changes colors, fonts, shapes, and layout while preserving content. Brand controls derive palettes from a hue. Sections can use their own palettes or image and video backgrounds. Light and dark display follows visitor preferences or remains fixed. Device controls hide elements on particular layouts while retaining them in the editor.

A library for site media

The library copies images, video, audio, and documents into the project. Search finds images by name or alternative text, and file properties identify pages that use an asset. Gallery carousels advance images automatically. Publishing creates responsive WebP variants while retaining originals. Video controls select poster frames; media blocks play browser-compatible files or supported external services.

Navigation

Menus organize published pages into nested groups alongside external links. Reordering entries preserves page addresses. Shared headers and footers hold logos, links, and contact details. Paid editions can protect selected pages with passwords.

Articles and documentation

Blog posts combine page-editor blocks with authors, tags, excerpts, and featured images. Tags form listings, and posts generate RSS. Scheduled posts require site publication after their target time. Documentation chapters provide side navigation, contents lists, and previous or next links.

Visitor forms

Contact forms define required or optional fields, send messages, and show confirmations or redirect visitors. Newsletter subscribers confirm through email and a confirmation button. Premium’s Embed block accepts external addresses or HTML.

AI writing

AI creates pages or blocks from prompts and rewrites passages. It uses local Ollama models, personal provider keys, or Lauyan’s cloud service. Authors can disable AI independently.

Several site languages

Whole-site translation uses local AI or personal keys across pages, menus, products, and posts. It updates changed text and creates language-specific addresses and switching controls. PO files carry manual corrections, which persist until the original passage changes.

Building the product catalogue

Product records describe physical goods, services, or digital products. Options generate variants with individual stock, images, price adjustments, and shipping weights. Tags organize collections; CSV and Excel exchange catalogue records.

Stock rules prevent orders, hide unavailable products, or allow backorders. Catalogue mode removes prices and checkout. Merchants select Stripe, PayPal, or offline payment instructions. Shipping uses zones and weight or order totals. Tax settings derive rates from countries; promotion codes apply conditional discounts. Real checkout requires a commerce-capable edition.

Resources that visitors can book

Resources represent rooms, practitioners, activities, or rentals. Controls define slots or date periods, hours, closures, units, capacity, and prices. Booking blocks place resources on pages. The site calculates availability and sends confirmations with cancellation links. Stay calendars exchange busy dates through iCal. Preview uses sample availability.

Testing and publication

Device preview shows appearance; local tests exercise forms, orders, bookings, and a test dashboard. Test emails appear locally without card-provider connections. FTP or SFTP publication uses hosting credentials, uploads changed files, and restores missing ones. Paid editions support local-folder export. Forms, checkout, and bookings require PHP hosting.

Search visibility and consent

Page controls set search metadata and sharing images. TOWeb generates sitemaps, structured data, language declarations, and redirects. Its optimizer flags broken links and missing metadata. Consent controls delay configured analytics, advertising, and external embeds until visitors accept their category.

Browser administration

The dashboard manages orders, invoices, stock, bookings, reviews, and digital downloads. Operators change order status, moderate comments, and export orders or subscribers as CSV.

Project recovery

Automatic saving and restore points preserve content changes. History excludes media copies; full backups include the entire project. Successful publication creates an automatic backup.

Edition rights and external AI

Edition Scope
Standard Free publishing with a credit; demonstration shop and bookings.
Premium Full bookings, additional published languages, protected pages, and folder export.
e-Commerce Premium functions plus real store payments.
Studio Commerce functions plus full external AI control.

External assistants use editing, design, commerce, and translation functions through MCP. Changes remain editable with undo; publication normally requires confirmation. Other editions restrict trial control to assistant-created trial sites, whose publication requires Studio.
