Ashampoo Office 9 is a desktop office suite with three workspaces. Write edits page-based text documents, Calculate handles spreadsheets, and Present builds slide presentations. Each workspace opens and saves the corresponding Microsoft Office formats instead of treating them as read-only imports. Ashampoo Office 9 changes the document content and layout stored in local files. It does not require a cloud workspace or continuously synchronize a shared online document.
Write keeps document review inside the file
Write compares two documents side by side and synchronizes their scrolling. Change tracking places deletions in the comments pane, while the style list can show all styles, styles in use or styles stored in the current document. Holding Ctrl selects separated text ranges, so an edit can target nonadjacent passages without selecting the text between them.
A two-page Book layout places the first page on the right. The Table ribbon tab can rotate text inside a cell. TMDX and DOCX files can carry embedded fonts, which keeps the selected typeface with the document when the receiving computer lacks that font.
Write also retains a user-selected number of file versions and can return to an earlier state. Its PDF output includes forms, tagged documents, bookmarks and PDF/A. Those controls create an exported PDF; they do not convert the working document into a simultaneous online editing session.
Calculate needs explicit rules for text data
Calculate works with formulas, worksheets, charts and pivots. It can also import and export SQLite databases. A CSV file needs an interpretation before text becomes spreadsheet values. Calculate accepts DMY, MDY or YMD date order and lets the user choose the decimal and thousands separators.
Those choices matter when the file and Windows use different regional conventions. Selecting MDY for a DMY file can reverse the month and day. Ashampoo Office 9 has no single CSV setting that fits every exported file.
A sort can use as many as sixty-four columns. Calculate has more than three hundred fifty calculation functions and more than eighty chart types. Five separate scaling methods fit a printout to a requested page count.
Present can package playback without the suite
Present uses slide masters for repeated layout and has a presenter view for the speaker. The Media ribbon handles presentation media, and background sound can continue across several slides. A self-contained slide show packages playback so another PC can run the presentation without Ashampoo Office 9.
Present opens and saves PPT and PPTX files. The self-contained slide show is another playback choice for a computer without the suite.
Offline files still need online licence checks
Ashampoo Office 9 stores normal work on the PC and can work without a required cloud service. That local-storage model does not remove licence checks. Ashampoo requires an Internet connection for activation and verifies the licence again at regular intervals. Ashampoo also states that using the suite requires full administrative rights.
