Automation Workshop is a Windows program for building recurring and event-driven tasks through visual settings. It combines triggers with actions to automate file handling, transfers, web requests and Windows service operations. Configured tasks run in the background as a Windows service, without requiring a user to stay logged in.
Task Triggers
A trigger determines when a task starts. File & Folder Watcher can respond to new, modified, renamed or deleted files, or to a file-count or size threshold. Task Scheduler supports fixed intervals and calendar patterns, including selected weekdays and particular weeks within a month. A separate execution policy controls which days and times permit a task to run.
Automation Workshop's Variable Wizard carries information into subsequent actions. Instead of entering a fixed filename, an action can receive the path of the file that activated the watcher. Other inputs can come from earlier actions, file contents or system information. Conditional comparisons and loops let a task choose a branch or repeat operations, rather than always executing an identical straight sequence.
File Synchronization
File actions copy, move, rename and delete items. For remote synchronization, users select a local folder, remote directory and connection, then choose upload, download or bidirectional transfer. Upload and download give one side authority over differing files; bidirectional synchronization uses modification dates so that newer files overwrite older counterparts. Supported connections include FTP, SFTP, WebDAV and cloud storage services.
Tasks can also control Windows services. The service can be selected from a list or supplied by name through a variable, then started, stopped or restarted. Options include handling linked services, and the resulting service state remains available to later actions.
API Calls
Universal Web API Call connects a task to an HTTP endpoint. Users choose the request method and supply text, structured data or a file as the body. Headers, query parameters, authentication, timeouts and retries control the exchange. Returned content can become a workflow variable or be saved directly to a file, while response codes provide data for checking the result. Reusable Internet & Web Profiles share connection settings across tasks.
Send Email takes recipient addresses, a subject, message text and attachment paths. These can be fixed entries or values supplied by the workflow, allowing a notification to include the affected filename or attach its output.
Task Monitoring
Queue Manager shows running and pending tasks; Log Manager filters and sorts past events. Error handling can send a report, write to the Windows event log, disable the failing task or launch another task. Remote Manager controls Automation Workshop instances on other machines.
The trial provides all features for 15 days. Home plans permit personal use; Business plans cover commercial use. Home+ and Business Standard or Premium include secure FTP, Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Storage features excluded from Home and Business Basic. Subscriptions include ongoing updates, while a one-time purchase keeps the purchased version usable without expiry.
