SOUND FORGE Audio Cleaning Lab presents audio frequencies in a spectral view so a selected range can be examined and processed. Original and cleaned previews allow the same range to be heard before and after the applied treatment. This connects the visible frequency selection with the audible result of a cleaning operation.
Auto Cleaning supplies an adjustable starting point for noise treatment. Presets address problems such as crackle, wind, camera noise and speech recordings, while their settings can be changed for the material being processed. DeClipper addresses clipping-related distortion, and a limiter controls signal levels during further processing.
Building the material to be cleaned
SOUND FORGE Audio Cleaning Lab records analog sources such as vinyl and cassette tapes and imports audio from CDs and video. CD information helps identify imported tracks, and video preview keeps the associated picture available while its audio is being worked on.
Range effects target a selected portion of audio, while object effects apply to individual audio objects in a montage. Multitrack montage tools arrange material across tracks, and track division separates the recording into individual tracks. Time and pitch adjustment change duration or pitch for material that requires those corrections.
Auto Mastering uses genre-based settings to shape the prepared audio, with meters providing information about its levels. VST3 support permits compatible effects to be used within the processing work.
Batch processing applies audio work across multiple files, including optimization and export. The program converts audio formats and produces audio-file, CD and video output, preparing cleaned recordings for the selected destination format.
