CCleaner Browser is a Windows web browser with ad filtering, tracker controls, malicious-site checks, extension screening, and browser-data cleaning built into one interface. It handles ordinary web pages like another desktop browser, while the Security and Privacy Center collects switches that would otherwise require separate extensions or settings pages.
Blocking has levels
CCleaner Browser Privacy Guard checks page scripts against filter lists. Basic blocking targets known trackers and disruptive advertising. Balanced mode also blocks more social advertising. Strict mode attempts broader blocking and anti-fingerprinting, but the official guidance warns that it can stop a website loading correctly or make the site inaccessible.
A broken sign-in button or empty video frame is therefore not always a network failure. The page may depend on a script that the selected level removed. Reducing protection for that site can restore the missing element, though doing so also permits more of the page’s tracking or advertising code. The useful setting is the strongest level that still allows the required task.
Shields need judgment
CCleaner Browser Web Shield checks addresses and downloads for known malicious behavior and phishing. Extension Guard blocks add-ons that the browser does not trust. These checks reduce common risks, but Web Shield does not claim to identify every malicious page. A convincing login prompt still needs a correct address, and an unexpected download still needs a known purpose.
Extension Guard can also interrupt a legitimate add-on that is new or distributed outside the expected store. Disabling the guard removes that checkpoint for every installation attempt. It is safer to confirm the publisher and requested permissions before making an exception, then turn the protection back on.
Private is local
CCleaner Browser Private Mode prevents that session’s browsing history from being written to the normal local history and removes tracking cookies or web cache gathered during the session. It does not hide the connection from the internet provider, workplace network, website, or account that receives a login. Downloaded files and bookmarks also remain after the private window closes.
Anti-Fingerprinting changes browser information that sites can use to recognize a recurring configuration. Some sites use the same information for fraud checks or compatibility decisions. A changed fingerprint can therefore trigger another verification request or produce a slightly different page response.
Cleaning removes sessions
CCleaner Browser Privacy Cleaner can delete history, cached images, cookies, and other selected browser data. The deletion cannot be undone. Removing cookies may sign the user out of websites and discard a shopping cart or local preference. Removing cached files can make the next visit slower because the browser must download them again.
The time range and selected data types should be reviewed before confirming. Cleaning everything is not the same as fixing one misbehaving site. When a problem belongs to a single domain, removing that site’s stored data creates less disruption than clearing every saved session.
Tabs can sleep
Performance Manager can suspend background tabs to reduce processor and memory use. A suspended page reloads or resumes when selected. This helps a crowded window, but it can interrupt a page expected to continue working in the background, such as a dashboard or web upload.
Screen Sharing mode addresses a different exposure. It hides parts of the browser interface, such as history suggestions or visible extensions, while the screen is shared. It does not remove private information already displayed inside the active webpage. The presenter still needs to close sensitive tabs and inspect the page before sharing.
