Overview

OBS Studio is the broadcasting program developed by the OBS Project and assists you to record and stream video content with ease. Its free version can be downloaded to Windows, Mac or Linux and all features can be used without paying anything. These recordings are excellent when it comes to game videos, online tutorials, podcasts, webinars, virtual meetings, screen captures, live events and so on. You may begin with simple settings or adjust all the details to make professional-looking streams. It is an open-source software that operates on its own and is updated frequently with new features.

Format:

It allows you to record video in various sources such as your screen, webcam, window captures, images, text and browser windows. Every source is shown as a layer which can be moved, resized and positioned as you wish. OBS Studio supports MP4, MKV, FLV, MOV, TS and other video formats and allows you to save recordings in these file formats. The Settings menu allows you to adjust your output resolution. You can add overlays, transitions between scenes or color filters to enhance the quality of the video to make your streams look professional.

Stream Management:

OBS Studio assists you in producing interesting content by combining various video and audio sources. You are able to hook up cameras, microphones and capture cards to introduce live footage. Scene packs allow you to change layouts in your stream using hotkeys. You are able to apply filters to specific sources such as noise reduction, color correction or chroma key on green screen. The audio mixer displays the sound level of each source in real time. These controls enable one to easily create quality content to your audience.

Recording Features:

The software is aimed at providing you with the control over the appearance and sound of your videos. You are able to record your screen during streaming or save local copies without broadcasting. Several audio tracks allow you to record game sound, microphone and music separately to edit them easier in the future. You can play back the recording, view file sizes or begin editing immediately when you are done recording. Plugins written in C or C++ allow developers to add custom functionality to OBS Studio to expand its capabilities.

Other Features:

OBS Studio allows you to customize the bitrates of the streaming quality, create studio mode to preview before switching scenes, use virtual camera output to make video calls, add closed captions, track performance statistics and configure automatic recording schedules. You are able to save various profile settings and change between them easily on various projects.

In general, OBS Studio supports any video capture requirements and provides you with the means to record and stream with potent features.
