Overview

MAGIX Video Deluxe is a video editor for Windows that combines footage, photographs, sound and titles into finished movies. It offers a Storyboard view for arranging scenes and a multitrack Timeline for controlling their timing, layers and effects. Its editing tools also cover recordings from several cameras, animated travel routes, spoken narration and subtitles.

Media library

The media library helps select material before it reaches the edit. Face recognition groups matching faces across photographs and videos, while custom tags let you organize content by people or categories. Keyword searches can locate tagged material, people, places and categories without browsing every file individually.

MAGIX Video Deluxe accepts footage from cameras, phones and drones alongside still images and separate audio files. Supported inputs include MOV, MKV, AVI and MPEG video, MP3 and WAV audio, and JPEG, PNG and HEIF images. RAW image support lets camera photographs join the same editing workflow. Screen recording provides another source, capturing computer activity with voice for demonstrations or gameplay videos.

Timeline

The Timeline supports up to 200 multimedia tracks. Clips can be cut, trimmed and rearranged, with tracks duplicated or moved as a project develops. Colors distinguish tracks and individual objects, making it possible to identify related material within a layered edit. Automatic gap detection finds and closes empty spaces between clips.

Frame-accurate keyframes define changes within a clip. Instead of leaving an effect constant, you can set positions in time for movement, color or speed adjustments. MAGIX Video Deluxe also provides templates and editing wizards when a project starts from an existing arrangement rather than an empty timeline.

For footage recorded from several viewpoints, Multicam mode displays up to four recordings together. After the recordings are synchronized, selecting an angle during playback creates the corresponding cuts.

Image correction

Color controls adjust tones and individual hues, while ready-made looks apply a chosen treatment across footage. Automatic shot matching uses a reference shot to align the color, brightness and contrast of other clips.

The editor works with 16-bit color processing for finer adjustments and gradients. Stabilization compensates for camera shake, and AI image tools provide sharpening, colorization, artistic styles and corrections for image imperfections.

Motion effects

Chroma key replaces a green or blue background so a foreground subject can appear over another image. Layer masks control which parts of a layer contribute to a composition. Title templates add animated text, with controls for its font, size and style.

Changing clip speed produces slow motion or time-lapse sequences. Frame interpolation generates additional frames for smoother slow-motion playback when the original recording has fewer frames than the effect needs. The 360-degree tools handle immersive footage and can also create moving views within panoramic photographs.

Travel Maps supplies a separate way to illustrate a journey. You choose a map style or import a map, mark locations and transportation modes, then add photographs and titles to individual stops. The result is an animated route that can accompany the trip footage.

Text-to-speech voiceovers and subtitles

MAGIX Video Deluxe converts typed text into a voiceover and spoken audio into editable subtitle text. Word-by-word highlighting can make captions follow the speech as it plays.

Offline speech processing runs on the local computer without consuming AI credits. Offline voice generation supports English, German, Spanish, French and Italian; speech recognition covers a wider set of languages. Online speech services provide additional voices and language options, with usage allowances that depend on the edition. Stock music, sound effects and video from the Content Hub also use download allowances, while the In-App Store offers additional content and add-ons.

Video export

Finished movies can be rendered as files in formats including MPEG-4, AVI, AV1 and WMV, at resolutions up to 8K. Graphics hardware can assist preview and export processing. A proxy workflow provides a way to edit high-resolution material using lighter working copies.

MAGIX Video Deluxe also supports DVD, AVCHD and Blu-ray output with animated menus. Disc output is limited to HD resolution even though file export supports higher resolutions.
