Nero MediaHome is a Windows application for organizing, playing and sharing photos, videos and music. Its library brings media from several locations into one browsing interface. It also creates slideshows, copies music from CDs and prepares media discs.
Library organization and photo tags
Media can come from PC storage, external drives, USB devices and mobile companion transfers. Nero MediaHome also integrates Windows Media Player and iTunes libraries. Browsing categories group items by recording date, faces, places, favourites or personal keywords.
OneDrive folders can join the library as watched locations. Online-only items carry a cloud icon and download when needed for playback or a creative project. The connected account must match the account used by the PC's OneDrive client.
Photo tags
The linked Nero AI Photo Tagger analyzes library photos locally. MediaHome loads the resulting tags automatically, making recognized subjects available as filters. In Find view, a subject tag can be combined with face or place information to narrow a collection.
Those filtered photos can become an album or slideshow. Photo Tagger can also save selected tags into JPEG files. Their keywords then remain available to Windows Explorer searches and other photo organizers that read this metadata.
Nero MediaBrowser makes the library available to related Nero applications. It can also hand photos, videos or music to compatible applications through drag-and-drop. This includes OneDrive items downloaded on demand, so they can enter a project from the same collection.
CD ripping and music discs
CD-Ripping options let the user choose an output audio format and storage location. The Import command in the audio-CD view saves the tracks there. Nero MediaHome adds those files to its library automatically, alongside music already on the PC.
Gracenote identification supplies song information and matching album artwork for the collection. Playlists gather music for playback, while audio CDs and MP3 discs provide physical outputs.
Slideshow authoring
Nero MediaHome can combine photos and videos in a slideshow, with music and movie-design templates. Opening and closing credits add text at either end of the presentation.
Albums collect selected photos or videos within the library. Slideshows turn a selection into a presentation that can also be streamed. Movie clips and slideshows can be burned to DVD-Video or Blu-ray discs with menus for compatible disc players.
Playback and home-network streaming
Nero MediaHome plays music, photos, videos, slideshows and DVD video on the PC. Media files or discs can open through the Windows context menu or AutoPlay. Song playback can display matching artwork from the music collection.
Self-created or unprotected Blu-ray and AVCHD content can also play in MediaHome. Dragging an unprotected Blu-ray disc into the application opens its M2TS content. Commercial or copy-protected Blu-ray movie discs cannot be played.
Home-network streaming
For another screen, MediaHome supplies its PC library as a home-network media server. Supported targets include televisions, Xbox, PlayStation and other network devices. The playback device must share the PC's network and allow the MediaHome server.
Nero Streaming Player on iOS or Android acts as a remote control. It opens the PC library under Play from PC & NAS. The user can browse Timeline or AI Tags views, select media and direct playback to a supported screen.
The mobile view retains the PC library's organization, including photo tags. A separate WiFi Sync companion supports wireless file sharing and playback between mobile devices and the media centre. Nero MediaHome itself remains the Windows application and is sold as paid software.
