RemotePC is a remote-access service for viewing and controlling a computer across the Internet. A host component runs on the computer being reached, while a desktop app, mobile app, or browser acts as the viewer. RemotePC can also transfer files, synchronize selected clipboard content, work with multiple monitors, restart a host, and support unattended access. It does not wake every powered-off or sleeping machine automatically; the host and its network still decide whether a connection can begin.
Configure the host
Always-ON Remote Access assigns the computer to an account and keeps the host ready for later sessions. The computer name identifies it in the list. A Personal Key can add a credential that belongs to that host rather than only to the account.
Losing the Personal Key requires a reset from the host or an authorized management route. Saving it insecurely removes much of its purpose. Account protection and host authentication solve different parts of the access path.
Power blocks access
An offline computer cannot answer a normal session. Sleep settings can also make a host appear unavailable even when it worked earlier. RemotePC documents platform-specific power changes so the host stays reachable after its display turns off.
A remote restart intentionally takes the machine offline for a short period. FileVault on a Mac needs its specific authenticated restart path. An operating-system update, firmware prompt, or disk-encryption screen can still stop the host before its remote service returns.
Permissions matter on Mac
macOS controls screen capture, accessibility input, remote desktop access, and background items separately. RemotePC needs the relevant permissions to display the screen and send input during unattended work. Installing the host does not silently grant every privacy permission.
A macOS update can introduce a new consent request. RemotePC may not show the status of every operating-system permission, so the owner might need to inspect Privacy and Security directly. A missing permission can create a blank screen or view-only session rather than an obvious login error.
Transfer without viewing
File Transfer can send and receive folders during a live session or through a separate transfer window. Remote file access through the web can browse, search, upload, and download without exposing the full desktop. The host must still remain online and authenticated.
Large transfers depend on both connections and the available storage at each end. A dropped session can leave an incomplete file. Compare size or checksum when the file matters instead of assuming a finished progress bar proves content integrity.
Clipboard crosses machines
Clipboard synchronization can move text between local and remote systems. This is convenient for commands and addresses, but it can also expose a password copied on one side to the other machine. RemotePC includes controls for clipboard behaviour because sensitive environments may need it disabled.
Copying files and copying text are separate paths. A disabled clipboard does not necessarily disable File Transfer, and a working clipboard does not prove that drive access is allowed.
Control needs consent
Connection-request permissions can ask the person at the host to approve an incoming session. The timeout policy can decline or connect when nobody answers. Unattended access and attended support therefore need different choices.
Review the host list and remove retired computers. Cloned machines can appear under related names, and simultaneous sessions may be allowed by the account plan. RemotePC shows active access, but organizational policy must still define who may connect, whether sessions need recording, and when shared access should expire.
