TweakNow QR Code Maker is a free desktop application for Windows that creates QR codes. It converts information such as a web address, a phone number, a Wi-Fi login or a block of text into a code that a smartphone camera can read. It then saves the code as an image file or places it on the clipboard.
Work in TweakNow QR Code Maker follows a short sequence: choose the kind of code, enter the information for it, generate the code, and save or copy the result. The type chosen at the start decides what a phone does after scanning, whether it shows text, opens a page or starts a message.
Text, links and contact codes
The simplest codes carry information for the reader to view or open:
- Text holds plain text, including multiline text. Several lines can go into one code, which suits short instructions or contact details laid out line by line.
- Links store a web address, so the person scanning opens the page instead of typing a long URL.
- Email and business card types put an email address or a set of business contact information into the code.
- Social platform codes point to a profile on services such as TikTok, Instagram, X, Threads, YouTube and LinkedIn.
Wi-Fi network access
For a wireless network, TweakNow QR Code Maker takes three entries: the network name (SSID), the password and the security type. The program encodes these together. A guest then scans the code to join the network without anyone reading the password aloud or typing it by hand.
WhatsApp, SMS and call actions
A WhatsApp code opens a chat with a chosen phone number when scanned. It can also include a pre-written message, so the chat starts with text that is already filled in. Separate SMS and call types cover ordinary text messages and phone calls to a number.
Logo, colors and patterns
Any code can carry a custom logo placed in its center, such as a company or brand mark on a code printed for customers. You can also change the colors and patterns of the code, so the result does not have to be plain black on white.
PNG, WebP and SVG output
You can export a finished code in one of three image formats. PNG and WebP are high-resolution raster images that fit screens, web pages and documents. SVG is a vector format, so you can enlarge the code for posters or other large prints without blurring it.
The QR Code Maker can also copy a code to the Windows clipboard instead of saving a file. From there you can paste it directly into Word, Slack, an email message or another application.
Offline generation
TweakNow QR Code Maker generates every code on the local computer rather than through a website. Data such as a Wi-Fi password therefore stays on the machine instead of going into an online generator. A Check Update button on the toolbar looks for newer releases of the program.
