Wondershare MobileTrans is a desktop program for Windows and macOS. It moves data between smartphones, copies phone content to and from a computer, and handles WhatsApp chats when someone changes phones. It works with Android and iOS devices, including transfers from one system to the other. A companion mobile app adds wireless transfers without a computer. MobileTrans is paid software: the free trial can create backups, while phone-to-phone transfers and restores require a licence.
Moving data from one phone to another
The core of MobileTrans is Phone Transfer. Both phones connect to the computer by cable and appear side by side as source and destination. A Flip button swaps the direction if needed. The user ticks the data types to copy and starts the transfer, keeping both phones connected until it finishes.
All four combinations are supported: Android to iPhone, iPhone to Android, Android to Android and iPhone to iPhone. MobileTrans covers more than 18 types of data, among them contacts, text messages, call logs, calendars, photos, videos, music and documents. MobileTrans adds data to the new phone without a factory reset, unlike setup tools that only work on a freshly reset iPhone. An optional “Clear data before copy” setting erases the destination phone’s existing content first when a clean copy is wanted.
Installed apps can be moved together with their in-app data, including game saves. A separate route signs in to an iCloud account and brings photos, videos, contacts, notes, reminders and calendar entries onto an Android phone.
Exchanging files with a computer
The Phone to PC option exports selected files from a connected phone to the computer. The user picks a category in the sidebar, such as photos, music, videos, messages or contacts, and then chooses individual items. Import to Phone works in the other direction, sending files stored on the computer to the mobile device. An iPhone must trust the computer before MobileTrans can read it.
WhatsApp and other messaging apps
Moving WhatsApp history between Android and iPhone is awkward with WhatsApp’s own backups, and this is a central job for MobileTrans. The program reads WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business data from the old phone and writes it to the new one. This includes individual, group, starred and community chats, contacts, call history, shared locations, voice notes, photos, GIFs, original-quality videos, stickers and documents.
Two modes are offered. Transfer copies the history to the receiving phone, while Transfer and Merge combines it with chats already on the new device. Before a transfer, an AI-based check can flag large, duplicate or low-value media so they can be left out.
MobileTrans can also back up WhatsApp data to the computer, with optional encryption, and restore it later to an Android phone or iPhone. MobileTrans can open WhatsApp backups held in Google Drive or iCloud and bring their chats onto a device in supported scenarios. It can also export chats as HTML or PDF files.
Other messaging apps get narrower support. MobileTrans can transfer LINE and Kik chats between phones in fewer directions than WhatsApp. Kik, for example, moves only between iOS devices. Viber is limited to backing up to a computer and restoring from that backup.
Backups stored on the computer
The Backup & Restore module saves a phone’s content locally over USB, with nothing uploaded to a cloud service. MobileTrans lists the data types it can read from the connected device. These types differ between iPhone and Android, and the user selects what to include. Supported content includes contacts, messages, call logs, photos, videos, music, notes, voice memos, calendars, bookmarks, alarms, Safari history, wallpapers and apps.
Restoring is selective. The Restore module lists MobileTrans backups and iTunes backups found on the computer. It shows how many items each category holds and lets the user choose what to put back. A MobileTrans backup can go to a different, new phone. MobileTrans can extract an iPhone’s iTunes backup to an Android device. Restores add data without resetting the phone or overwriting what is already there.
MobileTrans app for phones
The mobile version of MobileTrans runs on Android and iOS and transfers data without a cable or mobile data. Phone transfer covers about ten data types, such as photos, videos, music, contacts, calendars, messages and call logs, with WhatsApp available in certain directions. File Transfer pairs devices by scanning a QR code on the receiving phone. Share Nearby sends files to a device close by, and Share Remotely handles larger batches through encrypted sharing.
Licences and trial limits
Users can buy monthly, yearly or perpetual licences for the desktop edition of MobileTrans. Each covers one computer and up to five phones. WhatsApp Transfer, Phone Transfer and Backup & Restore can be bought as individual modules. A Full Features licence adds LINE and Kik transfers, plus backup and restore for WhatsApp Business, LINE, Kik and Viber. It also adds iTunes restore and WhatsApp View Once recovery.
Without a licence, the program detects connected phones, creates backups and previews backup contents, but stops before transferring or restoring data to a phone. Devices under company mobile device management may not transfer correctly.
