Aiseesoft Data Recovery is a file recovery program for Windows and Mac. It searches computer drives and removable storage for lost or deleted documents, photographs, videos, audio and email files, including files removed from the Recycle Bin. Its Windows tools also include a bootable recovery environment for a PC that cannot start normally and AI repair for eligible recovered photographs.
Disk scanning
A recovery search begins with the storage location where the files were lost. In the Windows hard-drive workspace, you can select one or more drives and start a scan, then pause or stop it while it runs. A separate USB/SD Recovery workspace scans a connected flash drive or memory card, covering removable media such as camera storage without treating it as a computer’s internal disk.
Aiseesoft Data Recovery offers a quick scan and a deeper search. Deep Scan takes longer and provides another search when the initial results do not contain the missing files. The Mac edition lets you select both the file categories and the disk to examine, including attached external drives.
The recovery targets extend beyond ordinary deletion to files lost after formatting and partition problems. For a deleted cloud-drive file, the program depends on an archive or copy available locally; its scan works with that local data.
Previewing results before recovery
Scan results become a set of files to inspect and select. Filters narrow the results, while previews let you check a candidate before recovering it. You can examine what the scan found and recover only the items you need.
On Mac, results can be browsed by file category or through the Path List. The category view groups content such as images and documents; the path view provides another route to the files by their location. Once you have made a selection, the recovery command saves the chosen files to the computer.
Photo repair
Aiseesoft Data Recovery adds a repair stage for some recovered images. Eligible results carry an AI Repair icon, so the repair control applies to particular photographs rather than every item in the scan. Opening one of these images gives access to AI Repair and a choice of folder for the processed output.
This feature handles JPG, JPEG and PNG images, including damaged images and blurry thumbnails. After processing, the program presents comparison images and a command to open the repaired image’s location.
Bootable recovery
The Windows Crashed PC Recovery tool prepares a USB drive that can start the affected computer independently of its normal Windows session. Creating this recovery medium formats the USB drive, so its existing contents are erased.
When the PC starts from that USB medium, Aiseesoft Data Recovery opens in the recovery environment. From there, you can scan the computer’s disks for lost files or copy data.
Aiseesoft Data Recovery licenses
The paid Windows licenses differ in both duration and computer allowance: the monthly license covers one PC, the annual license covers two, and the lifetime license covers three. Mac Data Recovery has a separate license purchase, so the Windows allowance does not describe a combined Windows-and-Mac plan.
