EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is a file recovery program for Windows that searches disks and removable storage for deleted or lost data. It handles files removed from the Recycle Bin, data lost after formatting, and files on missing or inaccessible partitions. Its scan results separate files found through the file system from those reconstructed from their contents, giving users several ways to locate what they want to recover.
Disk scanning
The Hardware Disk view lists internal drives and attached devices, including external hard drives, SSDs, USB drives and memory cards. Users can scan a disk or narrow the target to a known location such as a folder, the Desktop or the Recycle Bin. A Lost Partition area appears when the program detects partitions that have disappeared or been deleted.
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard first searches through file-system information and then performs more extensive scanning. The results reflect how much information remains: Local disk contains files found through the file system, File Path Lost holds files with missing or incomplete folder paths, and Reconstructed contains files whose original names could not be retrieved.
A recovered file may still contain useful data even when its original name or folder structure is unavailable. Content-based recovery depends on recognizing the file’s structure, so unusual formats can be harder to retrieve when directory information has been destroyed. Recovering files from a lost partition also differs from restoring the partition itself; the program extracts the files rather than directly rebuilding that partition.
Filters, previews and selective recovery
Results appear while scanning continues, and users can recover files they have already identified without waiting for the entire drive to finish. Pause and stop controls allow the scan to be interrupted. A saved scan session can be imported later to reopen its results without repeating the search.
Search accepts part of a filename or an extension. Filters narrow the list by file type, date or size, while Lost Files Only removes other results from view.
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard can preview supported pictures, documents, audio and video before they are saved. Users select individual files or folders for recovery, with the total number and size shown to help choose a destination. An automatic recovery option can save files to a specified location after scanning finishes.
Camera cards
SD Card Recovery provides a separate route for recovering camera photos and footage. Users select the card and choose the camera brand from a dropdown. The available brands include Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, GoPro and DJI, allowing the scan to use its camera-focused recovery method.
NAS and RAID recovery
The paid edition includes NAS recovery over a network connection. EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard detects available NAS servers, connects using the server’s access details and scans for lost files. Users can target a particular volume without removing its disks from the enclosure. SSH must be available for this connection.
For a damaged RAID structure, a separate recovery path works with the member drives connected to the computer. The program can reconstruct the RAID structure so that its files can be searched and recovered.
File repair
Pro adds repair tools for damaged files alongside recovery. Supported targets include MP4 and MOV video, JPEG and PNG pictures, and Office documents such as Word and Excel files. Image previews let users inspect repaired pictures before completing recovery. These tools address file corruption; they do not repair physically damaged storage hardware.
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free and Pro
The Free edition allows up to 2GB of recovered data and includes file previews. Pro removes that recovery allowance and adds NAS recovery, file repair and crashed-PC recovery through bootable WinPE media. The bootable recovery route lets the program retrieve files when Windows cannot start normally, while ordinary disk recovery runs within Windows.
