EaseUS Data Recovery searches a storage device for file records and content that the operating system no longer presents normally. The user selects the disk or partition where a file disappeared, scans it, filters the results, previews likely matches, and copies selected data to safe storage. The program can help after deletion, formatting, partition loss, or an inaccessible volume. It cannot reverse physical destruction or recreate sectors that new data has overwritten.
Stop writing first
Every write to the affected device can replace data that EaseUS Data Recovery might otherwise find. Installing the program on that same drive, downloading another file, or saving a scan session there works against recovery. A lost system-drive file may justify connecting the disk to another computer or starting a separate recovery environment rather than continuing normal use.
The destination matters just as much. EaseUS Data Recovery asks where to save recovered files, and that location should be another physical drive. A different folder or partition letter on the same damaged disk may still write over unrecovered sectors. Recovery creates a copy; it does not restore the original directory safely in place.
Scan the right device
The home screen lists detected storage locations. The correct choice is the device that held the lost data, even when Windows assigned it a new letter or no longer mounts its former partition. If the disk does not appear in Disk Management or disconnects during access, software scanning cannot correct the electrical or mechanical problem.
EaseUS Data Recovery begins adding results while the scan continues. A quick stage can find ordinary deleted records early, while deeper analysis searches more of the device. The user can pause and recover an important file before the complete scan ends. Stopping instead of pausing can prevent the current scan from continuing in workflows where the session cannot resume directly.
Find the useful copy
A large disk can produce thousands of candidates, duplicate names, and folders reconstructed without their original paths. Filters narrow the list by file type, size, date, or the first letter of a name. Search depends on surviving metadata, so a RAW result may retain file content while losing the familiar filename and folder.
Preview is the practical check before saving. EaseUS Data Recovery can display many documents, pictures, and other supported files from the scan list. A thumbnail or filename alone does not prove the complete file survived. Opening the preview can expose a blank document, corrupted image, or partial video before the user spends space recovering it.
Save the scan
After a Windows scan completes or stops, EaseUS Data Recovery can save an RSF scan-session file. Loading that file later avoids reading the entire drive again and preserves time spent filtering a large result. The RSF file belongs on another drive, not the device that lost the data.
A saved session has strict boundaries. It works only on the same computer that performed the scan, and later system or disk changes can make it unusable. The session is an index of what the scan found, not a backup of the found files. Losing the source drive still loses the material behind the index.
Preview is not recovery
Free and trial editions can scan and preview detected files, but they do not have the same saving permission. The trial can show that a file exists without allowing it to be copied. Upgrading changes the permission to save results; it does not improve sectors already overwritten while the user considered the purchase.
EaseUS Data Recovery cannot guarantee that every detected entry will open after copying. Recovery success depends on the device state, the time since loss, later writes, TRIM behavior on SSDs, and whether the file occupied fragmented sectors. The safest sequence is to stop writes, scan once, preview the highest-priority files, and copy them to separate storage before attempting repairs on the original volume.
