AOMEI FoneTool is a Windows program for managing the data on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from a PC. It moves files between the device and the computer, copies content from one iOS device to another, and makes full or selective backups. It also handles WhatsApp chats, iCloud content and private data removal. A free edition covers the everyday transfer and backup work, and a paid FoneTool Pro license unlocks the full set of tools. Work happens over a USB cable, and data stays on the user’s own computer and drives. The program was previously called AOMEI MBackupper.
Moving files between iPhone and PC
The Phone Transfer area of AOMEI FoneTool has three directions. iPhone to PC exports content to the computer. The user picks file types with the plus icon, selects individual items, checks the transfer settings and starts the export. PC to iPhone works the other way, adding files from a folder on the computer and importing them to the device.
It handles photos, videos, music, ringtones, contacts and messages. FoneTool does not set a limit on file size or on the number of files moved.
Switching to a new iPhone
iPhone to iPhone Transfer is meant for moving to a new device. With both devices connected to the PC, the user confirms which is the source and which is the target. FoneTool then copies the data across without a network connection. The new device does not have to be reset first, and the transfer does not overwrite data already on it.
Full and selective backups
FoneTool offers two kinds of backup. Full Backup copies all local content on the device, including settings and app data, in one operation. The user can choose a storage path and turn on backup encryption before it starts. Selective Backup lets the user choose categories such as photos, videos, music, contacts and messages, and then pick specific items inside them.
Later backups pick up only files that are new or changed since the previous run. Backups can go to any folder on the PC, an external hard drive or SSD, a USB drive or a NAS. The program does not cap backup size; free space on the target is the only limit.
Users can view, locate, delete or restore saved backups from inside AOMEI FoneTool. They can also restore a backup to a different iPhone or iPad from the one it came from.
WhatsApp chats and attachments
WhatsApp Manager handles both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business. It can back up chats, stickers, photos and videos, and other attachments such as audio, locations and shared files to the PC, with optional encryption. The user can later restore a backup to the same iPhone or to another one.
The same tool transfers WhatsApp data directly from one iPhone to another over USB. It can also export chats and media to a chosen folder on the computer, saving conversations as PDF.
iCloud from the desktop
The user signs in to an Apple account through My iCloud. FoneTool can then upload, download and delete photos, videos, contacts, notes and iCloud Drive files from the PC. It can also copy data from one iCloud account to another in a single operation.
Erasing data before selling a device
The Data Eraser in the Toolbox wipes data so that it cannot be recovered. One mode erases everything on the device, including settings and app data, with General Erase and Deep Erase levels. The other removes only chosen categories, such as photos, messages, call history, notes and Safari history. The user can choose whether to keep the Apple ID signed in after the wipe.
Recovering deleted iOS data
iOS Data Recovery scans a connected device for deleted items, even when no backup exists. Quick Scan and Deep Scan modes are available, and the user picks data types before scanning. It covers more than 20 data types, from photos, messages and contacts to notes, voice memos and WeChat history. The user can preview results and save selected items to the PC without overwriting what is on the device.
Photo cleanup and HEIC conversion
Two smaller tools deal with photos. The duplicate photo finder scans an iOS device or a PC for identical and similar images so the extra copies can be deleted. The HEIC converter turns batches of iPhone HEIC photos into JPG, JPEG or PNG.
Free edition, Pro and companion tools
FoneTool Free includes backup, transfer, WhatsApp and iCloud management, data erasing, HEIC conversion and duplicate photo removal. FoneTool Pro adds unlimited iPhone-to-PC transfers, one-click migration to a new iPhone, and full and selective backup without free-edition limits. A Pro license covers an unlimited number of iOS devices on up to five PCs, on a yearly or lifetime basis.
Passcode and Apple ID removal and iOS system repair are not part of AOMEI FoneTool itself. They come as separate Windows programs, FoneTool Unlocker and FoneTool Repair, each with its own license.
