Auslogics Anti-Malware is a Windows scanner for finding suspicious files, active processes, startup entries, tracking cookies, and selected registry or temporary-system items. It can run beside a primary antivirus as a second inspection path. Auslogics Anti-Malware classifies and removes or quarantines detected items; it does not replace a backup, repair every change made by an infection, or prove that an unflagged file is safe.
Choose scan depth
Auslogics Anti-Malware Quick Scan concentrates on locations where active threats commonly appear. Deep Scan examines a broader part of the system and takes longer. Custom Scan limits work to selected files or folders. These modes answer different questions, so a clean Quick Scan does not mean every stored archive and secondary drive was inspected.
Use Custom Scan for a newly received folder or removable drive when the rest of the system does not need another pass. Use Deep Scan after a serious detection or unexplained system change. Scanning more data increases time and disk activity, but it also reaches dormant files that a startup-focused check can miss.
Memory and startup
Auslogics Anti-Malware checks system memory for suspicious running code and examines startup-related entries. It also looks at selected registry and temporary locations. A process detected in memory may have a separate file or scheduled task that starts it again after a reboot.
Removing one component without its persistence entry can leave an error or another launch attempt. Read the detection details before cleaning related items individually. A startup entry with an unfamiliar name is not automatically malicious; legitimate updaters and hardware utilities also start with Windows.
Quarantine before deletion
Quarantine moves a detected item out of its normal working path so it cannot run in the ordinary way. The quarantine record can later restore the file if analysis shows a false positive. Direct deletion removes that recovery option.
A restored file returns the earlier risk unless it has been verified. If Windows or another application breaks after cleanup, restore only the item tied to the failure and scan it again after detection updates. Restoring every quarantined item defeats the purpose of the cleanup.
Ignore list persists
The ignore list excludes chosen files or folders from later scans and cleanups. This can stop a verified development sample or specialist utility from being flagged repeatedly. It also creates a blind area that remains after the user forgets why the exception was added.
Do not exclude a broad downloads or temporary folder merely to clear repeated warnings. Record the exact file and reason, then remove the exception when the file changes. A new file placed under an ignored folder can avoid inspection without inheriting the trust decision made for the original item.
Heuristics trade certainty
Signature detection compares data with known threat information. Heuristics look for suspicious characteristics that can also appear in legitimate administration, automation, or packaging tools. Auslogics Anti-Malware lets the user lower, raise, or disable this sensitivity.
Higher sensitivity can produce more detections that need human review. Lower sensitivity can reduce interruptions but may miss unfamiliar malware. Do not use the setting as a score where the highest value is always correct. Keep quarantine available and examine the path, publisher, and behavior of a heuristic result before deleting it.
Reports need action
A completed scan separates detection from cleanup. The free or trial state and the full product can differ in repeated removal and protection functions. Seeing a detailed threat list does not prove that every item has been removed.
Confirm the action status and restart when the program requests it. Some active files cannot be replaced until Windows releases them. Run another scan after the restart, then check whether security settings, browser extensions, and network configuration still show changes left by the incident.
Schedules run unattended
Scheduled scans can run in the background at selected times. They still use processor and disk resources, so a deep scan can interfere with a game, recording, or large file transfer. Choose a time when the computer is on but not doing latency-sensitive work.
A sleeping or powered-off computer cannot complete the scheduled work at that moment. Review scan history rather than assuming that a calendar entry means the scan ran. Detection data also needs updates; an old definition set weakens a fresh scan.
