Overview

Auslogics SSD Optimizer is a Windows utility for maintaining solid-state drives. It combines settings that reduce drive writes with on-demand optimization, storage analysis and drive health information. Its SSD Optimization switch changes how Windows handles maintenance, file operations and background activity, while separate tools let you inspect and process selected drives.

Reducing writes with SSD Optimization

Enabling SSD Optimization applies adjustments to drive maintenance, system services and core Windows operations. These settings aim to reduce the frequency and volume of data written to the SSD. File handling is part of this work, including saving, moving and deleting files and managing temporary files and system caches.

The switch can be turned off again. This setting controls the system adjustments; the drive list provides a separate place to launch an analysis or optimization run.

How Auslogics SSD Optimizer analyzes and optimizes drives

Auslogics SSD Optimizer lets you select drives and analyze their file layout before processing them. Results appear alongside a colored cluster map and a list of files. Selecting a file highlights its fragments on the map, while selecting a block reveals the files it contains.

The Optimize operation combines several techniques. TRIM tells the SSD which data blocks Windows no longer uses. Free-space consolidation brings available space together into larger continuous areas. Selective defragmentation merges small fragments of small or heavily fragmented files.

Algorithm Settings let you enable or disable TRIM and choose which file types to process, or include all files. A drive temperature limit can pause or stop the current operation when the selected threshold is reached. For file-system checks, the Check Selected command launches Windows CHKDSK; a separate Check & Correct Selected action requests repairs.

Drive statistics

The drive health view and usage statistics help distinguish file layout from the SSD’s workload and condition. The statistics include data read and written, operating time and power cycles, alongside health information and an estimated service life. A period selector lets you examine activity over different spans, from the current day to the past year.

Auslogics SSD Optimizer collects statistical data while it is running, either in the foreground or background. Closing the program leaves a gap in that collection. Pro provides access to the advanced statistics, so the availability of detailed history depends on the edition.

Disk Explorer

Disk Explorer approaches SSD capacity through the folders occupying it. An analysis produces a list sorted by size, with the largest folders first. You can open a folder and continue through its nested contents to identify the files responsible for its storage use.

Move and delete controls let you act on those findings. For example, a large collection that needs to be retained can be moved to another storage device, while files no longer required can be removed.

Scheduled optimization

Auslogics SSD Optimizer Pro adds automatic optimization with selected drives and run conditions. A time-based schedule can launch at the specified time even when the main program is not already running. An idle-time schedule requires the program to remain running and stops optimization when activity resumes.

The scheduler can skip maintenance while a laptop uses battery power and stop work when an application enters full-screen mode. It can also create an operation report. Reports are kept in a list with their tool name and date, allowing previous runs to be opened or filtered by creation time.

Pro cleanup tools and edition differences

Before optimization, Pro can remove temporary files, browser cache and Recycle Bin contents according to the cleanup options selected. This reduces the unwanted data included in the subsequent operation. Pro also adds free-space wiping with a choice of method and options to erase file entries and slack space, the unused portion of allocated file space.

The Free edition of Auslogics SSD Optimizer includes the optimization algorithm, disk protection and disk error checks. Advanced statistics, automatic scheduling, cleanup before optimization and free-space wiping require Pro.
