Description
iPhones accumulate files that users never directly create: duplicate photos taken in burst mode, screenshots forgotten after a single use, large video files from apps, similar images where five near-identical shots from the same moment fill space that one would cover. Cleaner Guru scans a user’s photo library and device storage and identifies these categories of redundant or unnecessary content and presents them for bulk deletion with a review step before anything removes permanently.
The app is aimed at iPhone and iPad users who find their device’s storage space full without a clear idea of what’s taking up the space. Apple’s built-in storage management displays a breakdown by category but doesn’t help determine which specific files within a category are worth keeping and which aren’t. Cleaner Guru focuses that process on photos and videos — the category of content that consumes most of the storage on a typical device — through automated detection of duplicates, similar images and large files.

Duplicate Photo Detection
Cleaner Guru scans the photo library and finds exact duplicate images — files that are byte-for-byte identical, usually created when photos are synced from multiple sources or when users save the same image more than once from messages or websites. For each duplicate group, the app recommends which copy to keep and marks the others for deletion. Users look at the suggestions before confirming, with the option to switch which copy the app keeps or to skip a group altogether.
Similar Photo Detection
Beyond exact duplicates, the app identifies photos that appear to be very similar: burst shots where the camera took ten frames of the same moment, multiple photos of the same subject taken within seconds of each other, and images that are only slightly different in composition or focus. The similar photo view shows groups side by side allowing the user to compare and choose the best shot from each group, deleting the rest. This solves the common problem of taking multiple pictures of the same subject in case at least one of them is good, leaving the unwanted extras sitting around unreviewed.
Screenshot Cleaner
Screenshots pile up fast — directions taken for a trip, confirmation numbers for orders, content saved for later reading that never gets reviewed. Cleaner Guru organizes all screenshots into one browsable view for bulk review and deletion, away from the rest of the photo library. Users swipe through and choose which screenshots to delete without having the screenshots mixed in with personal photos and making the selection process tedious.
Large File Finder
The large file finder lists videos and photos by file size, with the items taking up the most storage space at the top. Videos recorded at 4K or slow-motion at 240fps generate large files that fill up storage space quickly, and the large file view surfaces them for review. Users are able to preview a video before deciding if they want to delete it, export it to cloud storage or store it on device.
Contact Cleaner
A contact management section identifies contacts with missing information — no phone number, no email address — and duplicate contacts where the same person is listed under slightly different names or has been saved twice from different sources. The contact cleaner presents for review and merging or deletion.
Merge Similar Contacts
Where duplicate contacts exist, the app recommends combining them into one entry that contains information from both records. The merged result retains the name, phone numbers, email addresses, and other fields from both originals in a single unified contact card.
Reminder for Regular Cleaning
Cleaner Guru periodically sends reminders to users to perform a storage review, which can be set by frequency. The reminder approach solves the problem where storage builds up slowly without causing a cleanup until the device indicates that storage is full.
