CrankWheel Screen Sharing is a freemium presentation service that shares computer screens with viewers through their browsers. Chrome, Edge and Firefox extensions open its presenter controls on desktop computers. The service supports Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS presenters, and it also offers an iPad presenter app in beta. Viewers can join from desktop, tablet or phone browsers without creating accounts.
Inviting viewers to a presentation
The presenter selects a browser tab, an application window or the entire display, then sends a session link by email, text message or chat. CrankWheel also provides a public lobby address that a company can customize. Visitors either select a presenter or relay their access number, which the presenter enters to admit them. Private links belong to individual sessions and connect the recipient directly, without the lobby confirmation.
Reading the live preview
CrankWheel displays the viewer’s actual view in a preview window. The preview indicates pointer movement, the area a mobile viewer zooms into, and any delay. An alert appears when the viewer switches to another browser tab. When the presenter hovers over the preview, CrankWheel shows connection information and frame rate.
Letting a viewer interact
In one-to-one sessions, CrankWheel lets the viewer use the presenter’s mouse and keyboard. The presenter grants access to a browser tab or selects and resizes an area of the desktop. A visible border marks this area, and the viewer can move and click the pointer only within it. The presenter can end control at any time.
CrankWheel uses a helper app on the presenter’s Windows or macOS computer; viewers interact through their browsers.
Webcams and browser calls
During an ordinary screen share, the presenter can add a webcam overlay or show only the camera. CrankWheel also schedules video conferences from its dashboard or extension. The organizer copies the session details into a calendar invitation, and guests open the link without logging in. Conference participants use their microphones, speakers and webcams alongside screen sharing.
The iPad beta can share the tablet screen, its camera, or both, with two-way audio and a waiting room.
Recording and following playback
On desktop, CrankWheel records meetings, separate screencasts and webcam videos, and it also accepts video uploads. Meeting recordings capture presenter-side audio. The record function can run manually or start automatically for every meeting. CrankWheel uploads the result to its cloud and provides a download or shareable link. Screen recordings export to MP4.
Sales-video sharing adds an animated email preview and a configurable call-to-action button. Playback reports track opens and viewing activity, including engagement with particular segments.
Projecting a video
CrankWheel’s Projector plays video with sound inside a screen-sharing session. An individual account owner or administrator adds a direct MP4 address and a display title to the company content list. The presenter then chooses that video through Actions and selects Show video. Playback starts after the viewer accepts the remote-content invitation.
The presenter can pause, resume or stop playback through the preview. When the video finishes, CrankWheel returns the viewer to the earlier screen share.
Forms before and during calls
Instant Demos begins with a customizable form on a website or in an email campaign. Administrators choose the questions and mark them required or optional. CrankWheel alerts agents on-screen or by text message when a visitor requests contact. An agent can accept the request, call the lead and open a screen share.
CrankWheel’s ACA form tool collects an electronic signature during a session. The presenter watches the customer complete the form on their phone. CrankWheel keeps the signature’s audit details, including the IP address, phone number, user agent and timestamp.
Team settings and session records
The CrankWheel dashboard manages team members, usage reports and branding. Administrators can upload a company logo and choose the public lobby address. They also set the post-session destination. During a call, presenters can pick another address that administrators configure. When the session ends, CrankWheel sends the viewer to that page.
CRM connectors launch sessions from contacts or leads and write back meeting details, including recording links. Service plans change access to account controls:
| Plan | Access |
|---|---|
| Free | Limited core use; no branding options |
| Solo | Individual account with standard functions |
| Team | Account administration and team usage reports |
| Enterprise | Optional single sign-on, audit logging and sharing-type restrictions |
