It gives mobile users a chat interface to DeepSeek’s current flagship model for questions, writing, reading, problem-solving and translation. The app runs on iOS and Android and is free to use, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
Conversations with DeepSeek’s latest model
Each chat in DeepSeek App is a running conversation. The user types or speaks a prompt, and the model replies. Follow-up messages build on earlier messages in the thread. Answers can come back as plain text, tables or code. The app covers tasks such as drafting a message, summarizing a long passage, explaining a concept step by step or translating between languages.
The model behind the app is the one DeepSeek currently treats as its flagship, and it changes as the company releases new models. When DeepSeek updates a model for its website, it usually rolls out the update to the app as well. DeepSeek’s official services also share a very long context window of up to one million tokens. This lets a single conversation hold a large amount of text.
DeepThink for harder questions
Users can switch on the DeepThink reasoning mode before sending a question. With it enabled, the model works through the problem before writing its answer. This suits maths, logic, coding and other multi-step questions.
Web search inside a chat
With the Search option turned on, DeepSeek App looks up current information on the web and uses it in its reply. It does not rely only on what the model learned during training. This helps with recent events and facts that change over time. Search reduces mistakes without removing them, so answers on important topics still need checking. For location questions such as local weather, the service uses an approximate location derived from the IP address.
Files, photos and voice input
Prompts are not limited to typed text. Users can upload documents, and DeepSeek App extracts the text. The model can then answer questions about it, summarize it or rewrite parts of it. Users can also include images and photos as input. Voice input lets them speak a prompt instead of typing it.
Account, chat history and shared links
Signing in to DeepSeek App works with an email address, a phone number, a Google account or an Apple ID. Chat history is tied to the account and syncs across platforms. Users can continue a conversation started on the phone in DeepSeek’s web chat. From the settings, users can copy or delete their history, or delete the account entirely. Account deletion is permanent.
Users can share a conversation by generating a unique link. Anyone who has that link can view the conversation, so shared chats are effectively public to whoever receives the URL.
Model training and AI labels
DeepSeek may use de-identified prompts and replies to improve its models. Users who do not want their chats used this way can turn off the “Improve the model for everyone” setting. The service marks AI-generated content with labels. People who publish text produced in DeepSeek App are expected to keep that content identified as AI-generated. The service is aimed at adults; users under 18 need a guardian’s consent.
