EZ CD Audio Converter turns audio CDs and existing media files into new audio files, edits their tags, and writes discs. Its name covers three separate jobs rather than one conversion button. The CD Ripper reads tracks from a physical disc. Audio Converter processes files already on storage. Disc Burner writes an audio CD, an MP3 disc, a data disc, or an ISO image. Choosing the right workspace matters because each one creates a different result.
Secure extraction
CD ripping begins before the encoder writes MP3, FLAC, or another output. EZ CD Audio Converter can use error information reported by the optical drive and run a second read of every sector. It compares CRC results between the two passes and records detected problem locations in a ripping log. That verification takes longer than a single fast read, especially with a damaged disc, but it can reveal a rip that completed without producing identical data twice.
Disc metadata can contain CD-Text, track identifiers, a barcode, pre-gaps, and pre-emphasis information. EZ CD Audio Converter can preserve those fields when the disc and drive expose them. It can also create a cue-sheet image for a disc that needs its track layout retained. A normal folder of separate songs does not carry every part of that layout.
Format choices
Audio Converter can process many files in one queue and write common lossy, lossless, and high-resolution formats. The output profile controls codec, bitrate or compression level, sample rate, channels, and bit depth. Lossless conversion keeps the source samples when the chosen format supports them. Converting an MP3 into FLAC does not restore data removed during the earlier MP3 encoding; it only places the decoded result in a lossless container.
DSP options can normalize loudness, limit peaks, remove leading or trailing silence, add fades, or handle pre-emphasis. Loudness normalization and ReplayGain metadata are different actions. Normalization changes the audio samples to meet a target, while ReplayGain can store playback guidance in tags. Applying both without checking the profile can alter a library more than expected.
Metadata order
EZ CD Audio Converter can query several online music databases for album names, track titles, identifiers, and cover art. The settings place those services in an order and can disable any one of them. A result limit makes the lookup faster but can hide a less common pressing. High-resolution artwork also adds download time. When two services disagree about a release, the user must choose or edit the record before the conversion writes those fields into every output file.
The metadata editor handles embedded artwork and extended fields. Tag format still affects compatibility. An old ID3v1 tag has short text limits and can truncate long names, while newer ID3v2 choices store Unicode text. Keeping both tags for an old player can therefore leave two different representations of the same track inside one file.
Folder templates
Filename templates build output folders and file names from metadata. Album artist, album title, disc number, track number, title, barcode, and custom fields can all influence the path. Conditional sections disappear when one of their required fields is empty. This prevents empty separators, but missing metadata can also collapse an expected album folder or send several tracks toward the same name.
Preview the generated names before starting a large batch. A spelling change in the album artist field can split one release into two folders, and repeated track titles can collide when the template omits disc or track numbers. Correcting the tags first is safer than moving hundreds of converted files afterward.
Disc output
An audio CD and a data disc are not interchangeable. An audio CD targets ordinary CD players and follows audio-disc track rules. A data disc stores files for devices that understand their formats. Audio CD options can write CD-Text, insert silence between tracks, and normalize loudness. CD-Text appears only on compatible players, and disabling the gap option writes zero-length gaps. EZ CD Audio Converter therefore needs the target player and intended playback order decided before the burn begins.
