GOM Audio is a player for local music files, playlists, synced lyrics, and podcast radio. It reads audio and metadata, sends sound to the selected playback device, and keeps playback order in a playlist. GOM Audio does not convert a compressed recording into a higher-quality source merely by changing equalizer settings. The equalizer changes playback balance, while editing file information changes metadata attached to the track.
Files and playlists
A file can open directly or enter a named playlist. The playlist records order and total play time without merging the tracks into one audio file. Removing an entry from the list does not necessarily delete the source from storage, while moving or renaming the source outside GOM Audio can leave an entry that no longer opens.
Shuffle changes selection order and repeat controls decide what happens at the end. A-B style section work is separate from repeating a whole track or playlist. Hotkeys can control playback without bringing the main window forward, but they need combinations that do not conflict with another running program.
Equalizer state
The equalizer raises or lowers frequency bands. Presets create a starting curve for common listening styles, and manual controls adjust the bands directly. Reset returns the curve to its neutral state. A sharp boost can increase audible distortion or clipping when the source is already loud.
Equalizer state affects playback in GOM Audio. It does not recover detail removed by lossy compression and does not repair noise recorded into the track. If another player opens the same file without the same curve, it can sound different. Saving settings and changing the audio samples are not the same operation.
Synced lyrics
Synced lyrics attach lines to playback times so the display can follow the song. The Mini Web area can search by title or artist, load a registered set, and place lyrics on the desktop. Several lyric submissions can exist for one recording.
A timing file made for a radio edit may drift on an album version with a longer introduction. Choosing a result by title alone can therefore show the correct words at the wrong moments. GOM Audio lets the user edit or register synchronization, but that task requires listening through the track and correcting timestamps rather than pressing one global fix.
Tags and artwork
File information can show and edit title, album art, genre, and lyrics. These fields help the playlist label a track correctly. They do not identify the recording with certainty. Two releases can share a song title while using different masters, durations, or artwork.
Changing tags can affect how other library programs group the file. An incorrect album artist may split one album into several entries, and replacing artwork can increase file size if a large image becomes embedded. Checking a small selection before batch work prevents a metadata correction from spreading across unrelated tracks.
Radio playback
Podcast radio streams without requiring a local music file. The connection must remain available while listening, and saving a broadcast depends on the stream remaining accessible. A network interruption can stop or break the saved result.
Radio volume, equalizer, and output-device choices still pass through the local player. GOM Audio can receive the stream but cannot correct a server that is offline or sending malformed audio. Local files remain the more predictable route when uninterrupted playback matters.
