Light Image Resizer processes image files in batches. It accepts individual pictures, folders and subfolder trees, then creates resized or converted outputs under one set of rules. Light Image Resizer can also rename files, add a watermark, copy selected metadata or package results as a PDF, ZIP archive or animated GIF. It changes the files that the chosen action produces; it does not edit pixels with brushes or maintain a continuously synchronized photo library.
A profile is a named group of resize and output settings. Saving a profile turns a repeated job into a reusable configuration, and a context-menu favorite can expose that configuration in Windows Explorer. A one-off job can use the same controls without saving another profile.
Resize mode controls proportions and framing
Fit keeps the original proportions and places the picture inside the requested width and height. One dimension may finish below its entered limit because forcing both values would distort the image. Stretch forces both dimensions and can deform a picture whose proportions do not match the target.
Crop fills the target frame and removes content outside the centered crop. Center keeps the resized image intact and adds canvas area around it. Extend creates a square with blurred extensions. These modes solve different layout problems, so a mixed batch needs more than a quick check of the width and height boxes.
Light Image Resizer has a preview for inspecting a result before the complete batch runs. That preview cannot prove that one crop position or watermark works for every portrait and landscape source. A folder with mixed compositions may need separate profiles.
The action decides what happens to the originals
Copy writes processed files without replacing the source images. Original replaces each source with its processed result. Light Image Resizer enables a .bak backup by default for overwrite work, but a processing setting can disable it. Disabling that backup removes the normal recovery copy, so Original and Copy should never be treated as interchangeable labels.
The conflict policy answers another destructive question. It can ask, overwrite, skip or rename when the destination already contains the requested filename. Filename masks can insert the original name, extension, source directory, output dimensions, a sequence or a date. The selected conflict action controls what Light Image Resizer does when the destination already has that filename.
Conversion does not require resizing
Original Resolution keeps the dimensions while Light Image Resizer writes another file type. JPEG quality affects JPEG output rather than every format. HEIC input may require the image extension distributed through Microsoft Store, while AVIF can depend on another codec or plugin. A supported extension on the product page therefore does not prove that the local Windows installation already has every decoder.
A destination containing only a folder name creates that folder under the source location. Recreating the complete source tree requires a complete destination path. This distinction matters when several subfolders contain identical filenames or when the result must preserve its original organization.
Scripted batches have Windows command limits
The command form starts with resize.exe, followed by a file or folder and the required parameters. Values containing spaces need quotation marks. A missing quote can split one path into several arguments and prevent the intended batch from starting.
Windows also limits the length of one command line. Light Image Resizer accepts a text file through the /fl parameter when a long list of source paths exceeds that limit. The file list avoids one oversized command, but the paths inside it still need to identify the intended sources before an Original action begins.
