Overview

LogoRRR is a desktop log viewer from Robert Ladstätter for macOS, Windows and Linux. It analyzes local text files through a color-coded map, original text and a timeline. Search terms and time filters narrow the visible evidence, while chronological merge combines separate logs. The app offers a trial and permanent access through a one-time purchase.

Files, bundles and workspaces

File Open and drag-and-drop accept individual logs or folders. Each source opens in a tab, and reopening the same file selects its existing tab. Users can detach a log into another window for comparison and reattach it later. LogoRRR restores open files, positions, filters and window arrangements across launches.

Archive import accepts ZIP, TAR, GZIP and BZIP2 bundles, including compressed TAR files. Users choose an extraction folder, then Extract and open unpacks readable files into tabs. Each archive receives its own folder. The importer rejects encrypted archives and leaves nested archives unopened. The workspace supports up to thirty files across its windows.

A map linked to the text

The block heatmap compresses log rows into colored regions, exposing clusters, gaps and repeating patterns. Clicking a block centers its corresponding source row in the text view. The minimap shows the full block range and the current viewport; dragging that viewport moves through the map. Per-file settings control text size, block size and panel visibility.

Colored search terms

Literal search ignores case, while Regex search uses case-sensitive RE2 expressions unless the pattern supplies an ignore-case flag. RE2 excludes backreferences and look-around assertions. Each term receives a color, an active toggle and a matching-line count. Several occurrences on one line still count as one matching line.

Deactivating a term removes its highlighting and filtering contribution while retaining its definition. Hiding Unclassified leaves only lines that match active terms. Previous and next controls jump between exact occurrences and wrap at the file ends. Favorites save reusable groups of terms and visual settings across files without including the matching log contents.

Timestamp columns and timeline

Timestamp settings pair a character range with a date-and-time pattern. Users drag the Start and End markers around the timestamp and enter the corresponding pattern. The dice button proposes both values on request.

Valid timestamps enable activity labels and a timeline for narrowing the visible time range. Timestamps without an offset use the computer’s time zone. Global defaults initialize later files, while explicit per-file settings override them.

Follow a growing source

Follow adds new rows as a local log grows and applies the active searches and filters to them. Pause freezes rendering while ingestion continues. Resume displays pending work without moving the viewport; Jump to live returns to the newest row.

The clear action resets the visible projection at the current position while keeping Follow active. It leaves the source file intact. LogoRRR starts a new source generation after rotation or truncation. It retains the last visible evidence during temporary source loss.

Chronological merge

Merge Open Logs combines at least two attached logs after users configure their timestamps. Detached logs must return to the main window first. Users select sources, set a clock offset for each and choose a destination that differs from every source or open log.

The merge reads complete files and orders their events by corrected timestamps. Continuation lines stay with their preceding event. It writes UTF-8 text with LF line endings, retaining original lines without adding source labels.

Clipboard evidence

Copying selected entries returns complete source lines in their original order, even when the selection covers only part of a displayed line. The main copy control instead captures the visible investigation with its current region and filters. Full media provides HTML, plain text and an image; Text only supplies plain text.

Large-file coverage and access

LogoRRR automatically chooses a resident or disk-backed analysis strategy. It first presents an exact window around the active region, then advances whole-file searching, filters and timestamp analysis in the background. Coverage indicators distinguish partial summaries from complete results.

The full-app trial lasts thirty days. After it ends, permanent access enables opening files and starting new analysis. Already loaded work remains available for reading and copying, while new live analysis also needs active access.
