PrivaZer examines traces that Windows, browsers, and other programs leave after ordinary use. It can find browser records, thumbnail caches, jump lists, USB history, Registry entries, temporary data, and remnants of files that the user already deleted. A normal Recycle Bin emptying removes directory references, while PrivaZer can also clean residual information in file tables and free space. Its purpose is privacy cleanup, not repairing the content of personal documents or recovering a deleted file.
Choose the trace
The task menu separates a broad drive scan from narrower jobs. Internet activities target browser and web-storage records. Software use looks for histories created by installed programs. Old files searches for traces of deleted material that recovery utilities might still identify. USB history examines records of removable devices that previously connected to the computer.
PrivaZer shows scan findings before cleanup when the user leaves the immediate-clean option off. That review matters because a category can contain data with a practical purpose. Cookies can keep a website signed in, jump lists can reopen recent documents, and thumbnail caches can speed folder previews. The result screen lets the user clear individual selections instead of erasing every reported trace.
Deletion means deletion
The secure-delete path targets a selected file or directory and overwrites its data rather than moving it to the Recycle Bin. PrivaZer also has a separate command for emptying the Recycle Bin without leaving recoverable remnants. These operations aim to prevent recovery, so they conflict directly with any later attempt to restore the same material.
A secure cleanup should begin after a backup, not before it. The restore areas can help with Registry or system changes, but they cannot reconstruct a personal file after secure erasure has overwritten it. The selected drive and path deserve a second check when several disks use similar names.
Storage changes the method
PrivaZer detects whether the target is a magnetic drive or an SSD and adapts its cleanup. It can skip free-space areas that already contain zeros instead of writing over them again. This reduces needless work, but a first in-depth pass can still read a large portion of the drive and take far longer than clearing a browser’s recent history.
Boost mode gives cleanup more execution priority. The official tutorial warns that this can make the computer harder to use during the run. A scheduled cleanup or a shutdown-after-clean option avoids competing with active work, but shutdown is another deliberate consequence: unsaved documents in other programs need attention before PrivaZer starts that sequence.
Keep useful records
PrivaZer can preserve chosen cookies so regular sites do not lose their saved sign-ins. That exception list should be reviewed when a browser profile changes because an old domain entry can protect more data than intended. The same selective approach applies to software traces and Registry areas. A smaller, verified cleanup is safer than accepting every detected item merely because the scan labels it as removable.
The portable edition can run without a conventional installation, which is useful for examining another computer or external drive. It still writes changes to the selected target when cleanup starts. Portability changes where PrivaZer runs; it does not turn destructive actions into previews or make overwritten data recoverable.
