PUBG Mobile is a free-to-play battle royale shooter for Android and iOS, published by KRAFTON and Proxima Beta. In its main mode, 100 players land on a large map, gather weapons and supplies, and fight until one player or team remains. Around that core, PUBG Mobile adds an extraction-style mode, a social hub with small arenas, and a map editor for player-made games. Optional in-game purchases fund the game.
How a Classic match plays out
Classic mode is the standard battle royale format. Players start with nothing and loot buildings for firearms, armor, healing items and ammunition. They then move across the map by foot or vehicle. The safe area, the Playzone, shrinks as the match goes on, which pushes the remaining players together. The last survivor, or the last surviving team in Duo and Squad matches, wins.
Several systems change how a Classic round develops beyond simple looting:
- Recall gives an eliminated player in Duo or Squad one chance to return, when a teammate brings them back at a Recall Tower.
- Supply Shop lets players collect tokens during the match and spend them in shops inside buildings on equipment and tactical items.
- Movement aids such as ziplines and hang gliders on some maps help players cross terrain quickly or escape the Blue Zone.
- Route marks on the mini-map let a squad share where it plans to go.
Maps and vehicles
PUBG Mobile rotates several Classic maps with different sizes and settings, including Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, Vikendi, Livik, Karakin and Nusa. Each map has its own weapon and vehicle spawns, so the choice of map changes the pace of a match. Vehicles include motorcycles, a UTV and a two-seat bike on which the passenger can fire one-handed weapons. Time-limited themed modes regularly add extra mechanics, special items or altered terrain to the regular maps.
Ranked and casual matchmaking
The lobby separates Ranked modes from Matchmaking modes. Ranked Classic matches award Rating Points that move players through tiers from Bronze up to Conqueror over each season, with tier-based seasonal rewards. Matchmaking modes do not affect rank. Some map variants are available only there. Players who log in with a guest account have a limited rank ceiling and do not appear on leaderboards.
Metro Royale extraction mode
Metro Royale works differently from Classic. Before a match, players prepare a loadout in a separate lobby. This lobby includes a black market, an inventory, a command post, missions and talents. The black market sells supplies and equipment in several quality levels. It also buys back items brought out of a match in exchange for Metro Cash, the mode’s currency.
Only items players place in the backpack go into battle. Items left in the Metro Royale inventory are safe. A lock box returns its contents whether the player wins or loses. Equipment carried into the match is at risk. Inside the match, players face both other teams and computer-controlled enemies, including bosses that can drop rare Fabled gear with special traits. The mode offers Basic and Advanced difficulty. Raising favorability with NPCs at the command post unlocks additional resources.
Cheer Park and lobby duels
Cheer Park is a shared social space where players can meet friends and try short activities between matches. It includes a Duel Ring with its own scoring and rewards, Quick Draw shooting duels, a small soccer field and drivable vehicles. Players can also challenge a teammate to a 1v1 battle directly from the lobby.
World of Wonder creation mode
World of Wonder (WOW) is the creative mode of PUBG Mobile. Creators build their own games by combining gameplay devices, scene objects and match parameters inside a map editor. They then publish them for other players. Devices have detailed settings. For example, a map indicator device places a marker on the large map or mini-map. Creators can set it to appear only at certain match stages or only for specific teams. The editor includes an AI assistant that answers map-creation questions, and creators can receive incentives tied to their published maps.
Controls and team tools
PUBG Mobile lets players rearrange on-screen buttons, including a separate layout for vehicles, and set button transparency. Aiming can use gyroscope control with adjustable sensitivity when aiming down sights. Players can customize sensitivity for each firearm. A full control and sensitivity setup can be exported as a code and shared with other players. Throwables can be set to a quick swipe gesture.
For finding teammates, a team-up platform lists recruiting teams, and recruitment chat can filter players by language. Player cards show preferred modes, weapons and voice-chat preference. An in-match social button lets players add teammates as friends or give them respect.
Anti-cheat and reporting
The game runs detection for common cheats such as auto-aim, no-recoil and grass removal, as well as for unfair cooperation between opposing teams. After a match, the report page lists the players who knocked the user down or eliminated them. This lets the user report a suspected cheater directly. The game’s official website publishes penalty rules and lists of recent violations.
