Revo Uninstaller removes Windows applications and searches for files, folders, and registry entries that remain after the program’s own removal routine finishes. It is useful when an uninstaller leaves configuration debris, when an installed program no longer appears in the normal list, or when a tray process is difficult to identify. Revo Uninstaller does not skip the vendor routine by default; it runs that routine first, then performs its separate leftover scan.
Follow two stages
The normal workflow begins with the selected program’s built-in uninstaller. Dialogs from that uninstaller can open behind other windows, request a restart, or ask whether user data should remain. Revo Uninstaller records the surrounding state, waits for the vendor routine, and then asks the user to start the leftover scan.
A restart does not necessarily end the job. The uninstall data can remain available so the wizard can continue after Windows starts again. Closing both processes early can leave the vendor stage incomplete, so confirm which window is waiting before assuming the scan has stalled.
Pick scan depth
Safe mode checks common leftover locations quickly. Moderate extends that search, while Advanced searches more deeply and takes longer. A deeper scan can find more entries, but it also increases the need to distinguish shared data from material that belongs only to the removed program.
The results appear before deletion. Registry entries come first, followed by files and folders. A name match is evidence, not proof of exclusive ownership. Shared folders, plug-in directories, and user-created projects should remain when another program or the user still needs them. Review the tree rather than selecting every result automatically.
Find broken installs
Forced Uninstall handles a program that is missing from the installed-app list or was removed months earlier. It accepts the exact program name, its main executable, or its installation folder and searches for an uninstaller, trace log, and related remnants.
An incomplete name can match unrelated products. Entering a broad term such as a vendor family instead of the exact edition increases false matches. Revo Uninstaller recommends the executable or main folder when it still exists. If the installer is available, reinstalling the same program before normal removal may rebuild the missing vendor uninstaller more cleanly.
Aim the target
Hunter Mode places a target on the screen. Dragging it onto a window, desktop shortcut, or tray icon identifies the related process and opens actions for uninstalling, stopping the process, disabling automatic startup, viewing properties, or opening its folder.
Stopping a process is not the same as removing it. The process can return after restart unless its startup entry or parent application is handled. A target placed on a shared host process can also describe more than the visible program, so inspect the reported path before using a destructive action.
Preserve recovery paths
Revo Uninstaller can create a registry backup and a Windows restore point before removal. Deleted registry leftovers are backed up by default, and removed files normally go to the Recycle Bin. Those protections depend on settings and available Windows services; they should be confirmed before a difficult cleanup.
Windows updates and system components deserve special treatment. The vendor documentation directs critical Windows update removal back to the built-in Windows controls. Revo Uninstaller is strongest when the target is a clearly identified third-party application and its leftovers, not when a broad scan is used as a substitute for system repair.
