AimerLab FixMate repairs the system software on an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV when the device cannot start or update normally. It targets states such as a recovery loop, a frozen startup logo, repeated restarts, a black screen, or a failed system update. The repair acts on device firmware rather than opening and correcting photos, messages, or individual app files. A computer downloads the matching firmware package and writes the repair while the device stays connected by USB.
Recognition comes first
AimerLab FixMate must identify the connected device before it can select firmware. A working cable and USB port matter because the connection carries both detection data and the later repair. An unlocked iPhone or iPad may ask for its passcode and a confirmation to trust the computer. Until the user accepts that prompt, the computer can see a physical connection without gaining the access that the repair process needs.
A device that cannot reach the normal screen may need Recovery Mode or DFU Mode. AimerLab FixMate has separate controls for entering and exiting Recovery Mode, and those controls do not perform a full system repair. Exiting Recovery Mode can solve an accidental recovery screen when the underlying system remains healthy. A device that returns to the same screen or boot loop needs diagnosis beyond repeatedly pressing Exit.
Two repair depths
Standard Repair is the first firmware path. It aims to correct the system fault without deleting personal data. That wording does not replace a backup. A damaged filesystem, failing storage, interrupted update, or an existing device fault can still put data at risk before the repair starts. If the device remains usable enough to back up, that copy should come before any firmware work.
Deep Repair handles more serious failures after the standard path cannot complete the job. AimerLab FixMate states clearly that Deep Repair erases all data and settings. The choice is therefore destructive, not a stronger version of the same non-destructive button. The device returns through a firmware restoration process and needs setup afterward. A backup determines whether personal material can return.
Firmware selection
After reading the device model, AimerLab FixMate displays firmware choices. The program can download the selected package or import a package that already exists on the computer. Firmware files are large enough that a slow or unstable connection can interrupt the built-in download. The guide includes a browser-download fallback for that case, after which the local package can be imported.
The package still has to match the detected device and the repair choice. A filename alone is a poor reason to force an unrelated file into the process. Apple may also stop signing a particular system build, which can prevent a restoration even when a copy of its firmware remains online. AimerLab FixMate cannot make an unsigned build acceptable to Apple’s restoration checks.
Keep the cable still
The most sensitive stage begins after the firmware download, when AimerLab FixMate writes the repair to the device. The official guide tells the user to keep the device connected to avoid data corruption. A loose cable, sleeping laptop, depleted battery, or unstable USB hub can interrupt that stage. Connecting the computer to power and using a direct USB port removes two avoidable failure points.
The device restarts when the repair completes and may display its own progress bar before returning to setup or the lock screen. That restart is part of the process; disconnecting at the first Apple logo can be premature. If the program cannot recognize the device again, the next step is to check the cable, trust state, and recovery instructions rather than immediately choosing Deep Repair and accepting data loss.
