Any Video Converter is a desktop toolkit from Anvsoft for converting, downloading, editing and compressing video and audio files on Windows and macOS. Any Video Converter Free covers format conversion, DVD and CD ripping, compression, basic editing and video downloads at no cost. The paid Pro and Ultimate editions add custom download and output controls, DVD burning and a set of AI tools. Conversion and editing run on the user’s own computer, so the program does not upload files.
The program is organized as a toolkit. Each job, such as Format Convert, Video Download or Compress Video, opens as its own tool with an output options panel. Finished files appear in a History tab, where users can open them.
Converting files between formats
In the Format Convert tool, users add videos one by one, as a selection of several files, or as a whole folder for batch conversion. The output profile then sets the container (MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, TS, WMV, FLV, WebM or MPG). It also sets the resolution as a percentage of the original or as a custom width and height. Other settings control the video encoder (H.264, HEVC, AV1 or MPEG), the frame rate and the video bitrate. Audio has its own encoder, sample rate, channel and bitrate settings.
When only the container needs to change, for example MKV to MP4, the Auto (Match Source) encoder setting in Any Video Converter copies the original streams into the new file without re-encoding. Quality stays the same, and the job finishes much faster. When resolution, bitrate or codec change, Any Video Converter re-encodes the video with GPU acceleration.
Advanced encoding settings
A gear icon next to the container opens finer controls:
- Scan type: inverse telecine for film material, or automatic deinterlacing of interlaced sources.
- Filters: denoise, deblock and sharpen at several strengths, plus a color space setting.
Audio and subtitle tracks
Before converting, Any Video Converter lists every audio and subtitle track in a file. Users can keep or remove tracks with check boxes, so a multi-language film can keep one dub or several. Users can export any single track as a separate audio or subtitle file. They can also add external audio or subtitle files to the video as new tracks.
Ripping DVDs and CDs
Users add discs from the same Format Convert tool. The program can automatically skip titles shorter than a chosen length, which filters out menus, intros and trailers. For each remaining title, the user picks which audio and subtitle tracks to carry over, then chooses an output profile as with any other file. Only the paid editions support burning discs.
Downloading online video
The Video Download tool takes one or more pasted URLs from YouTube and other video sites, including whole playlists. Any Video Converter Free downloads in three preset modes. Best Quality fetches the highest resolution, audio quality and frame rate the source offers. Balanced aims for a moderate file size, and Compact produces the smallest files. The free modes have no daily or download-count limit.
Pro and Ultimate add a custom mode for choosing the format, resolution, audio track and subtitles of each download. Ultimate also watches YouTube channels and playlists and downloads new uploads automatically.
Compressing and trimming video
Compress Video reduces one file or a whole folder either to a percentage of the original size, from 30% to 80%, or to a target size in megabytes. A strategy setting decides what to protect while shrinking the file: a balanced result, the frame rate, the resolution, or both.
The Trim Video tool works in two ways. AI Smart Split detects scene changes and cuts a long recording into clips automatically. Manual mode cuts the video at the playhead or defines clips by start and end points on a zoomable timeline with an audio waveform. In both modes, users delete unwanted clips and export the rest separately, or reorder and merge them into one video.
A separate Merge Video tool joins different files in a chosen order, with optional transitions. Any Video Converter also crops and rotates video, adds watermarks, subtitles and music, and merges audio files.
AI tools and credits
The program also contains AI tools. The video enhancer upscales footage up to 400% or 4K with Standard, Ultra, Anime and Denoise models. It offers optional face enhancement and a preview of the enhanced frame. Other tools convert speech to text and separate vocals from music. These three tools are part of the Ultimate edition.
The image and video generators create images or short clips of 2 to 12 seconds from a text prompt and optional reference images. They run on credits: Ultimate includes bonus credits, while Free and Pro users buy a credit pack and redeem it in the program.
