ACID Pro’s MIDI Playable Chopper turns selected audio slices into material that can be triggered through MIDI. A recorded phrase can be divided into playable pieces and performed as a new sequence. This makes the source recording part of an instrument-like performance before its events are organized into the song.
Reworking the arrangement in sections
Section and cluster editing operate on groups within the arrangement. They provide a way to move or reshape related material as a unit, which is useful when an edit concerns a passage spread across multiple tracks. Track folders organize the parts of a larger project so those groups can be managed within its track structure.
Audio recording and MIDI production add performances to that structure. ACIDized loop data supplies key and transient information, and real-time pitch and tempo changes adapt the material as the song’s musical settings change. Beatmapper establishes tempo information for audio that needs to take part in the arrangement.
Following the signal through the mixer
ACID Pro’s mixer routes tracks through processing and into the mix. VST effects can be automated, with parameter changes developing over time alongside the musical events. This lets the arrangement include changes in sound treatment as well as changes in notes or audio placement.
The routing tools also work with external effects and devices. An external processing path becomes part of how a signal travels through the project, while control surfaces provide physical access to software controls. ASIO support connects audio work to compatible drivers, and ReWire supports linked audio-software workflows.
Mastering tools address the assembled mix before it is delivered as encoded audio or an audio CD. The completed arrangement, its automated processing and the final mix supply the material for that stage.
