Icecream Video Converter is a Windows program from Icecream Apps for converting local video and audio files. It prepares files for other formats or devices and applies trimming, subtitles, watermarks, and compression during conversion. The free version provides conversion tools, while paid PRO licenses add watermark-free output and commercial use.
Building the conversion queue
Users add files through the file picker or drag them from folders into the window. Multiple selections can combine different input formats in one queue. Each entry carries its own output settings, and the Convert to menu chooses its destination format. A shared preset can apply the same choice across the queue.
The Convert button beside a file processes that entry alone. The main Convert button starts the batch, beginning with the first item. Users choose an output folder for the results.
Formats and device profiles
Icecream Video Converter accepts common sources such as MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV, WMV, and MTS, alongside formats including FLV, VOB, and SWF. Its output choices separate video files from sound-only files:
- Video: MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM, MKV, and MPEG.
- Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, and WMA.
Device presets choose output settings for targets such as iPad, iPhone, Android devices, and PlayStation. Users can apply a preset to one video or the queue. For example, the iPad preset selects MP4. These profiles prepare media files for playback; the conversion program itself runs on Windows.
Quality, resolution, and compression
Separate menus control output resolution and quality. The initial quality choice is High; users can keep it or select another level before converting. The quality menu includes settings from Ultra High through Ultra Low. Lower quality settings use lossy compression to reduce the output size.
Icecream also offers a compression level directly in the conversion queue. Users choose that level for the file they want to compress. The resolution menu changes the dimensions of the output picture.
Choosing a shorter segment
The trimming tool sets the beginning and end of the part to keep. Conversion writes that segment into the new file and omits the material outside those boundaries. A preview player shows the result before processing. This also allows an audio extraction job to use only the relevant portion of a source video.
Subtitles in the output
Users can supply an external SRT subtitle file before conversion. Subtitle settings control the font, text size, opacity, color, background, and placement. Icecream includes the captions with the output video using those appearance choices. The subtitle controls operate alongside the trim and watermark tools in the file’s conversion settings.
A custom watermark
The watermark tool accepts either an image or text. Users choose its size, transparency, and angle, then include it in the video during conversion. PRO offers conversion without a software watermark alongside the option to add a custom watermark.
Soundtracks and silent video
Choosing an audio output format extracts a video’s soundtrack into a separate sound file. Users select the format beside the clip preview and choose where to save it. MP3 extraction can run for several source videos in the queue. For video output, turning off the audio option creates a silent result.
Following jobs through to completion
Progress bars show activity for individual files and the overall batch, with an indication of remaining time. Pause, Resume, and Cancel control the running conversion. After completion, the Folder control opens the output location. The History section provides access to previous conversion results.
A completion-action control can leave the program open, close it, or shut down the computer after processing.
PRO licensing
PRO offers annual and lifetime licenses. Its commercial-use permission and priority support accompany watermark-free conversion; activation uses a license key inside the existing application.
