Soft Organizer is a Windows uninstaller from ChemTable Software. It removes installed programs together with the files and registry entries their own uninstallers leave behind. It runs on Windows 7 through Windows 11. The free edition covers uninstalling, leftover cleanup and tracked installation. The paid Soft Organizer Pro adds cleanup for programs removed earlier, silent installs and one-click updating of installed software.
The installed-programs list
Soft Organizer opens on a single list of installed software. Typing each character in the search box narrows the list. You can sort or group the list by installation date, tracking status, name and other fields. Universal Windows apps from the Microsoft Store appear in their own folder. You can remove them in the same way as desktop programs. Microsoft Office updates and service components go into a separate “System and Service” section so they don’t clutter the main list. Soft Organizer marks programs that launch at Windows startup with a speedometer icon.
Each entry also carries a rating based on how many users removed that program shortly after installing it. You can export the full list to an HTML file, for example to send to technical support.
Removal and leftover search
When you uninstall a program, Soft Organizer runs the program’s standard uninstaller first. When that finishes, it automatically scans the file system and registry for anything the uninstaller left behind. It lists the traces it finds for review before deletion. You can leave files or settings worth keeping in place. The search also picks up drivers linked to the program, and it handles programs registered under more than one uninstall entry in the registry.
The uninstall menu gives three alternatives to the default sequence:
- Faster standard uninstall hides the uninstaller’s welcome and folder windows. Any choices made on those screens are skipped.
- Standard uninstaller only runs the program’s own uninstaller and skips the trace search, so remnants may stay behind.
- Forced uninstall skips the program’s own uninstaller and deletes only the traces Soft Organizer finds.
During a forced removal, Soft Organizer stops processes and services that hold files open. Soft Organizer schedules files that are still locked for deletion at the next restart. It shows them in a list before the final step. If traces can’t be moved to the Recycle Bin, Soft Organizer asks before deleting them permanently. You can select and remove several programs in one batch. Before uninstalling Steam, the program warns that games installed through it may stop working.
Backups and the Undo Changes Center
Soft Organizer makes a backup automatically whenever it deletes leftovers. Soft Organizer keeps these backups in the Undo Changes Center, where you can undo a cleanup that removed something still needed.
Installing with tracing
Instead of running a setup file directly, you can start it from Soft Organizer with tracing turned on. While the installer runs, Soft Organizer records the files, registry entries, services, drivers and startup items it creates. When the installer finishes, it shows how many of each were added. Soft Organizer finds registry changes by comparing snapshots taken before and after setup. It records file changes as they happen.
Uninstalling a traced program uses this record, which gives a more complete result than a scan done after removal. Soft Organizer groups companion programs installed during the same session under the main application. You can remove them with it. Tracing makes most sense for unfamiliar software that may not stay long. Programs that are kept, or that come from trusted vendors, don’t need a log. You can delete a log that is no longer needed with “Remove from List Without Uninstalling”. This leaves the program installed.
Update checks and Pro features
Soft Organizer checks whether newer versions of installed programs are available and shows the results in the list. You can exclude applications from these checks through their context menu. The utility also updates itself.
Soft Organizer Pro adds three functions:
- A search for leftovers of programs that were already uninstalled before.
- Silent installation for setup packages that support it.
- One-click installation of newer versions of installed programs, where the program supports it.
