Renaming a file extension in Explorer does none of this; conversion decodes the source and encodes a new output for another player or device.
Choose the output profile

The container determines how streams and metadata are packaged, while the video and audio codecs determine how the picture and sound are compressed. Two files with an MP4 extension can therefore require different decoder support.
Device names in a preset are a starting point rather than a permanent compatibility guarantee. Check the target’s accepted codec, maximum resolution, and audio arrangement. Keep the source until the converted file plays all the way through on the intended device.
Balance size and detail
Any Video Converter can reduce dimensions, frame rate, or bitrate to make a smaller delivery file. Lowering bitrate too far creates block patterns, blurred motion, or damaged sound. Increasing bitrate above the source does not restore detail that compression already removed.
A target-size compressor must divide limited data across the running time. A long, fast-moving recording needs more data than a short, static clip at the same perceived quality. Test a motion-heavy section before applying one setting to an entire batch.
Trim before encoding
Trim removes unwanted time at the beginning, end, or middle. Merge places selected clips into one sequence. Crop removes picture edges, while changing aspect or adding padding controls how the remaining frame fits the output.
These edits create a new file and leave the imported source intact. Frame-accurate boundaries can still depend on decoding and the selected encoder. Preview the cut around speech and scene changes so the output does not begin with a partial word or end before the final audio sample.
Pick subtitle behaviour
Any Video Converter can place external SRT text into the picture or keep a switchable subtitle track when the chosen output permits it. Hard subtitles always appear because encoding draws them into each frame. Soft subtitles remain separate and need player support.
Character encoding, timing, position, and font size need checking before a long conversion. A subtitle file can load successfully while displaying broken characters or drifting away from speech. Test an early and a late scene rather than judging only the first line.
Record the right area
The Any Video Converter screen recorder captures a selected display region and chosen audio. Set the area before recording so private windows, notifications, or another monitor do not enter the frame. Confirm microphone and system sound separately when both are needed.
Recording cannot recover a source that was disabled. A muted microphone or omitted system-audio channel remains absent in the resulting file. Make a short sample and play it back through headphones before starting a long session.
Manage batch conversion
A batch repeats output decisions across multiple inputs. This works well when the files share similar picture, audio, and destination requirements. A mixed queue can contain portrait video, surround audio, subtitles, and different frame rates that need separate profiles.
Conversion needs free space for the new files and may use substantial processor or graphics resources. Hardware acceleration depends on a supported graphics path and codec. Inspect the output folder and one completed item before committing the full queue, especially when filenames could collide with older exports.
