VN Video Editor assembles video clips, pictures, audio, text, and overlays on a multitrack timeline. A project keeps the source media and a set of editing decisions: where each clip begins, how long it remains, which layers appear above it, and how the finished frame should look. Trimming or splitting inside VN Video Editor does not cut the original camera file. It changes the project until export renders those decisions into a new video.
Tracks react differently
The main track carries the primary sequence, while sub-tracks hold picture-in-picture video, graphics, titles, and other overlays. Quick main-track mode shifts later material when the main sequence changes. Pro mode keeps a fixed timeline and can leave empty gaps. Choosing the mode changes the consequence of a deletion, not merely the appearance of the controls.
Auto-Ripple, Track Linkage, and Sub-Track Extension add more relationships. A linked audio clip may move with its video, while an unlinked object can stay at its absolute time and fall out of sync. Before removing a long section, the editor needs to know whether later clips should close the gap or preserve their current positions.
Frames set motion
Keyframes store an object’s state at particular times. VN Video Editor calculates movement, scale, rotation, opacity, or another supported property between those points. One keyframe records a state; at least two changing states create visible motion.
Moving a clip after keyframes have been placed can change when the animation occurs relative to other layers. A mask or mosaic that follows a moving face needs enough keyframes to stay on the subject. The editor does not understand the intended target merely because the first frame is aligned.
Ratios can crop
The project ratio defines the shape of the exported frame. A vertical ratio suits tall phone video, while a wide ratio suits a landscape player. When a source clip has a different shape, VN Video Editor may crop its edges to fill the new frame.
Changing the ratio late in a project can therefore cut off text, faces, or overlays that looked correct earlier. Each mismatched clip may need its own crop, scale, and position adjustment. Expanding the canvas does not restore pixels that were outside the source recording.
Sound drives cuts
Audio can occupy its own timeline track, and waveform peaks help place speech or music against picture changes. BeatsClips can detect beats and align selected material to the rhythm. Speed curves change clip timing through ramps rather than one constant multiplier.
Timing changes can separate recorded audio from its picture when the tracks do not change together. A speed ramp also changes how much timeline space the clip occupies. VN Video Editor can preserve linked movement when the relevant preference is active, but the editor still needs to inspect the result around every boundary.
Captions need correction
Auto Captions converts speech into timed text, and text controls change font, size, spacing, placement, and style. The generated captions begin as editable timeline objects. They are not guaranteed transcripts: names, accents, background noise, and overlapping speakers can produce wrong words or timing.
Correction must happen before export if the text is meant to become part of the picture. Importing an SRT file follows a different path and preserves external subtitle timing for later adjustment. Either route still needs a check against the spoken audio.
Export fixes the result
Custom export sets resolution, frame rate, and bitrate, with supported devices able to render high-resolution output at high frame rates. These values affect file size and processing demand. Raising them above the source does not create missing detail or motion frames.
The draft remains editable after an export, but the exported video does not update when the timeline changes. VN Video Editor must render again to create a corrected copy. Project transfer across devices also needs the project and referenced media, not only the last exported movie.
