The product divides editing into Standard Mode and Advanced Mode. Standard Mode builds around ready-made slideshow styles and keeps the assembly process short. Advanced Mode places photos and videos on a timeline and exposes more direct control over motion, text, sound, and transitions. Choosing the mode early matters because the two project types do not carry every item between them.
Pick a mode
Standard Mode suits a photo sequence that can follow one of the supplied styles. The user adds pictures, selects a style, and adjusts the soundtrack or captions. Wondershare DVD Slideshow inserts transitions between imported items automatically, so a first preview can play before every cut has been edited.
Advanced Mode accepts video beside still images. It also gives each item a clearer place on the timeline. Moving from Advanced Mode back to Standard Mode removes video material. Moving a Standard project into Advanced Mode can remove styles that the advanced editor does not support. A mode switch is therefore a conversion with losses, not a harmless change of workspace.
Build the sequence
Each slide can use a transition, motion effect, duration, and text. Music occupies its own part of the project and can be trimmed to fit the sequence. A preview shows how these choices meet before the program starts encoding. Automatic transitions save initial work, but they can also make every cut feel unrelated to the pace of the soundtrack. Reviewing the full sequence remains necessary.
A Wondershare DVD Slideshow project records the arrangement and refers to the imported photos, videos, and audio. Moving or renaming a source file afterward can leave the project unable to find it. The support archive includes missing-file and project-backup problems for this reason. Keeping the source folder together until the final output is finished avoids a repair search through several drives.
Shape the menu
A DVD project can open with a menu that links to its slideshow titles. The menu has backgrounds, buttons, text, and navigation behavior. It can also be disabled when the disc should begin playing without a selection screen. Menu text deserves a television preview because long labels or edge placement can behave differently after burning.
The menu is separate from the slideshow timeline. Correcting a caption inside a slide does not correct a menu title, and removing a slideshow can leave menu work to revisit. The disc preview is the place to test both navigation and playback order before creating the final files.
Choose the signal
DVD output requires a television standard. PAL and NTSC use different frame and signal conventions, and the product guide warns that choosing the wrong one can prevent normal playback on the intended equipment. The choice should follow the player and television that will use the disc, not merely the country where the computer sits.
Physical burning also requires a working DVD writer. If no compatible burner is available, Wondershare DVD Slideshow can create an ISO image or a DVD folder instead. Those outputs preserve the disc structure for later burning, but copying the folder as ordinary files is not the same as authoring a playable DVD.
Test before copies
Encoding finishes the project into a delivery format and can expose problems that a small editor preview hides. A useful check covers menu navigation, audio level, text boundaries, and the complete ending. One short test disc is safer than producing several copies immediately.
Wondershare DVD Slideshow belongs to an older DVD-centered workflow, and some former online sharing targets in its guide are no longer dependable. Local video, ISO, and DVD-folder output remain easier to verify because the resulting files can be played before a disc is distributed. The source media and project file should stay together until that verification is complete.
