Overview

CyberLink AudioDirector edits recorded sound as waveforms, clips, tracks, and frequency content. It can trim speech, mix several sources, repair noise, replace dialogue, alter vocal prominence, and build a soundtrack against video. The video can guide timing, but CyberLink AudioDirector changes the audio rather than the picture. A clip is a placed section of media, while a track holds clips along the timeline. That distinction matters when one recording needs a local repair and the complete mix needs a separate level change.

See the sound

The waveform view shows amplitude over time and supports cuts, fades, level work, and effect processing. Spectral and visual repair views expose sound by frequency as well as time, which helps isolate a short whistle, click, or scrape that overlaps wanted audio. Removing a visible mark still changes the recording; the display is evidence about location, not proof that every colored region is unwanted noise.

Text-based editing adds another representation. CyberLink AudioDirector transcribes speech, then ties edits in the text to the spoken audio. Deleting a sentence in the transcript can trim its audio without manual waveform selection. Names, accents, overlapping speakers, and specialist terms can still produce an incorrect transcript, so the text needs comparison with playback before a large deletion is accepted.

Capture the noise

Manual noise reduction works best when CyberLink AudioDirector can analyze a section that contains the unwanted background sound without speech or music. That section becomes the noise reference used against the wider clip. Choosing a region that also contains a quiet consonant or instrument teaches the process to treat part of the wanted signal as noise.

Different problems need different controls. Hum removal targets steady electrical tones, click removal targets short impulses, DeReverb reduces room reflections, and wind removal addresses changing low-frequency bursts. Applying every repair because it is available can thin speech and remove room character. Previewing one operation at a time makes the source of a new artifact easier to identify.

Replace the line

CyberLink AudioDirector can record replacement dialogue and align it with the original video clip. Re-recording solves a damaged word or performance problem without repeating the camera shot. The old dialogue, however, can share its channel with room tone or street ambience. Removing that region may remove the background sound as well.

The dialogue workflow can use separate background-noise clips around the replacement so the room does not fall unnaturally silent. Those clips must resemble the original location and level. A clean studio sentence placed over a noisy scene may be intelligible yet still sound detached. Alignment fixes timing; it does not make microphone distance, room reflections, or vocal tone match automatically.

Shape the mix

The Mix room places dialogue, music, effects, and linked video audio on separate tracks. Track controls adjust each source, while the master track controls the combined result. CyberLink AudioDirector can split clips, cross tracks, normalize levels, add transitions, record into the session, and place effects on the mix.

Audio profile settings belong at the start of the mix. Channel layout, sample settings, and output choices affect the result that follows. A stereo source placed into a surround project does not gain real rear-channel information merely because more output channels exist. Panning determines where the source plays; it cannot reconstruct direction that the original recording never captured.

Separate the vocals

Vocal Remover and Vocal Boost change the prominence of a singer relative to the accompaniment. They can prepare a backing track or bring a vocal forward for another mix. The vocal and instruments may share frequencies and stereo positions, so separation changes can also affect drums, reverberation, or instruments near the center of the mix.

The original file should remain outside destructive project decisions. CyberLink AudioDirector can keep edits in a project and export a new result, which leaves the source available for another treatment. Batch processing can apply one preset to many files, but a setting that suits one microphone or room can damage another. A short audition from each recording catches that mismatch before the complete batch finishes.
