CyberLink Power2Go writes files, music, and authored video projects to optical media, and it can save or burn disc-image files for later reuse. A disc image is one file that records the source disc’s contents and layout; it is different from dragging visible files into an ordinary folder. CyberLink Power2Go also converts media for recognized devices, creates password-protected data areas, and can build bootable recovery media. Each task changes a different object, so choosing Data Disc, Copy Disc, Movie Disc, or System Recovery determines more than the label printed on the finished disc.
Build the disc
A data project collects files and folders, measures them against the selected medium, then writes the session to the recorder. A movie project adds authoring decisions for menus and playback structure. CyberLink Power2Go can resize video to fit the destination, but fitting is a conversion decision: reducing the bitrate changes the encoded output even when the source file remains untouched.
Optical capacity and filesystem rules still apply. A project that fits by total byte count can contain a file name or format that the intended player does not understand. CyberLink Power2Go can finish a valid data disc that a living-room player cannot play as a movie. The target device, disc type, and authoring task must agree before burning begins.
Save an image
Copy Disc can save the source as a P2I or ISO image on storage instead of writing another disc immediately. Copy whole disc includes the complete source layout. The saved image can later be mounted for access or written to compatible media, which separates the reading step from the final burn.
The Ignore reading error option is a deliberate compromise. It tells CyberLink Power2Go to continue when the drive cannot read part of the source. A completed image can therefore exist even though the source produced errors. The burn log records the operation, but opening a few files does not verify every sector. Important archives need a clean source or a separate content check before the original disc is discarded.
Split secure content
CyberLink Power2Go can divide one data-disc project into secured and ordinary areas. Files in the secured area use password protection, and file names can also be hidden. Files placed in the ordinary area remain accessible without that password. The visual split in the project is therefore a security boundary, not merely a color choice.
The password must be entered and confirmed during creation. A reminder is optional, but the reminder is not the password. Recipients open the protected area through CyberLink Security Browser and supply the correct password before viewing or extracting files. If that browser does not start automatically, they must open it from the disc. A protected disc can thus be readable by the recorder that created it while still confusing a recipient who expects files to open directly in the normal file manager.
Prepare recovery media
System Recovery creates bootable media that contains the material needed to restore a Windows system backup. CyberLink Power2Go can place recovery data on optical discs or supported removable USB storage. This is different from a data backup of personal folders because the recovery set also needs a boot path and the system image structure.
Creating the media is only the first half of the job. The computer firmware must be able to boot the chosen device, and the recovery environment must see the destination storage. A USB drive that appears in Windows does not prove the computer will start from it. Testing the boot menu before a failure exposes missing firmware settings or inaccessible controllers while the original system still works.
Convert for playback
Smart Detect can choose a format and resolution for a recognized mobile device. CyberLink Power2Go then creates a converted copy rather than changing the source media in place. Device recognition removes some manual choices, but it cannot guarantee that subtitles, unusual audio tracks, or protected source material will transfer as expected.
Conversion, disc authoring, and backup may share the same project window, yet their outputs are not interchangeable. An ISO is a disc image, an encoded video is a media file, and a recovery drive is bootable system media. Naming the intended output before adding files prevents a successful operation from producing the wrong kind of result.
